Not bastards, no, but personally, I think the media in general chooses to go too far into areas that shouldn't be of any concern. Fair enough, if you really want to make derogatory comments about someone's music/lack of talent, things that pertain to what the person has become famous for, that's fair game really and a certain amount of voyeurism into the lives of the famous does seem to go with the territory (still not my cup of tea, but that's ok). However, to go so far as to intrude into someone's life and then have the entire media mock/laugh/deride them when they are going through a personal free fall is just unnecessary and a little 'holier than thou' in my opinion.

However, I expect I believe that because I don't derive any pleasure from witnessing what appears to be a genuine disaster brought about by a problem with addiction. You are right however, that I can't dictate how other people get their kicks either.

Hope she never have the chance to get her kids back a ####### of a ###### people like her don't deserve kids if they can't find there heads out of there azz. Why bother Having kids if you don't want to be responsible for them.

I don't mean to pick on you in particular, but this kind of stuff is OTT. You have no right to tell anyone that they never deserve to have their kids back based on some perception you have on them presented by the media. That's just ridiculous.

I agree that wishing harm on someone is beyond the pale. It also seems to go on a lot in media coverage of criminal trials – be interesting to revisit the threads on the Duke rape case, for example…

Time to start the 'what is wrong with the media in 2007' thread perhaps?

My guess is, that for some people, laughing or otherwise 'enjoying' for want of a better word, the fall of a media personality is a kind of reverse envy thing. Some people resent other people for being rich and famous, particularly if they think they are there without talent and enjoy the thought of them crashing as though it's just deserts. Well, maybe. Honestly, I don't know what makes people interested in the minutiae of other people's lives.

ITA...and that's not often that I do that with you, PH.

The point I was getting at though was not to hold the media blameless...but to shift the blame equally on what appears to be the majority of the population who lap this sh!t up.

Last night, I was channel surfing, and there was a 'Britney...the demise!' special of sorts with a round table discussion with people like Gloria Allred.

Just shocking.

Brit's new song is so apropos, Gimme More.....lolz

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

No, it's not just the media, as evinced by some of the comments in this thread. I guess the real question is, can/should anything change in this regard or are we just going to have to switch channels/turn the page/ in an ever more desperate attempt to find something interesting to read/view in the media?

I agree she shouldn't be bringing up kids in that environment as it stands, and so does the court. She's had them taken away from her. Whether she gets them back is entirely in her own hands as well.
