My wife had her interview (CR1) in islamabad yesterday, and after 5 min. of questioning about me and my family, the lady there started asking about my wife's previous marriage. She started scrutinizing the divorce document. My wife took the divorce document that she had received from the The union office administration in karachi, but apparently that was not sufficient and they needed additional document. The objection letter says that they need the court issued divorce document and the administrative processing paperwork. But my understanding is that the local council offices issue the divorce certificate. They told her that it may take 2-3 mnths to process everything. After raising the objection they asked her to send her passport along with the additional documentation.

I am trying to get all of the requested information together, the interview was on monday 0ct 5, and I am planning to send everything back by next week.

My questions are:

1) What is the most reliable documentation that I can get for them in karachi pakistan

2) How long does it really take from this point, is the 2-3 mnths time for real

3) What do they specifically need when they say administrative processing paperwork for the divorce

4) If you have been thru this please let me know what should I do.

I'm really depressed with this whole deal, I dont know how long its going to take to have my wife here with me. I was expecting them to ask more question regarding my marriage instead they drilled the hell out of her previous marriage documentation. I would really appreciate any feedback, I am not sure what is the right course of action at this point. Please respond as soon as possible, I'm trying to send out the infoby next week. Thanks ya'll, I would really appreciate any guidance.

Hello,

Congratulations on the interview happening and relax since AP is a normal part of this processing coming from Islamabad and they will take any where from weeks to months to complete so just get the required documentation and return it as soon as possible and then wait it out.

1. If you have a certified raised seal copy you need that for the divorce decree that they are asking for. I suggest contacting the court or the attorney and ask them to provide this documentation.

2. 2-3 months or longer it depends on what security checks and verifying all paperwork. It can be shorter or longer but I always say to expect the longest time frame when dealing with Islamabad. In our case we were told weeks of AP and it ended up being 5 months but remember I was bringing over a male. There are a few females that are still in AP now at three months. You should visit us in the Islamabad forum and post your questions there since these persons are familiar with this consulate and their processing. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;#entry1239558

3. If they asked for a certain type of form they will want this form. They may also do a home field investigation to make sure that the couple is really divorced and that they are not still communicating. I know many cases but where the man is being petitioned by the USC and claimed divorce when not really and the cases were denied for fraud. I am not saying this is your case but one bad apple causes them to scrutinize all cases more closely.

4. Give them the documents and pray for patience during this time. AP is a dark abyss from Islamabad and they will not tell you how the processing is going, what security checks they are running, field investigation is scheduled or not. You can call DOS after three weeks and ask for an update and suggest you do this on Wednesday afternoons or Thursdays since this is when they cabled information from Islamabad and they had current information. Again all they will say is AP but if it makes you feel proactive please do it for your peace of mind but one day they will say they are ready to continue the processing and in some cases will say the visa is being courriered to the spouse. Hang in there!

Mary
