Universal Health Coverage --- Call It Socialized Medicine

Socialized medicine is the only way to go. If you don’t agree then obviously you have never been a poor American. Caring for each other is an obligation, and in the modern world healthcare is the way we care for each other.

This is a moral issue. Who among you would claim that a rich man deserves better/easier/faster access to medical care than a poor man?

We can argue about how to best run a socialized healthcare system, but I don’t see any morally sound argument against providing the exact same access to healthcare to all people.

I have been a poor American without health care and I still don't want socialized medicine. There are other ways to make sure everyone has health care without turning it over to the government.

Caring for each other is an obligation...

At what point did caring for each other go from something good people did because it's the morally upright thing to do to being an actual obligation?

I think he did imply it was a moral obligation - taken out of context it loses his message - imo.

This is a picture of a woman during the great depression with seven children. These children are now in their mid seventies. What would they say about the whining here? Some of you have totally lost perspective of the meaning of having it tough. Dump the passifier and security blanket and get on with it!

Are you saying that you aren't in favour of providing health care for anyone that needs it regardless of their ability to pay then?

Or, maybe you are saying that it's character building to have it tough and that people really should be grateful even if they can't afford health care because at least now we have birth control?

Really, I have no idea what point you are trying to make with your emotive pictures and emotionally driven blather.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Wasn't that the generation that supported the New Deal, social security, and the reforms put in place to (with luck) ensure that we don't have another Depression? Methinks something's gone wrong with your argument, because the Depression-era voters and politicians gave us many of the social programs we enjoy today, largely because they saw the effects of not having them.

Oh but I know you do see what I am conveying here. Its just that you wont let go of that warm feeling of being a victim.

The new deal as we see today is a no-deal. With luck? Sorry but I really dont want my future built on luck.

I'm a victim of what exactly, in your opinion?

You are a master of saying nothing, while attempting to appeal to a sense of outrage. I don't believe too many people are suckered into it though.

How is healthcare a moral issue? If a person does not possess any morals, should they be excluded from receiving healthcare?
