I have decided to change my last name to my husband's. I am the USC and wanted to know will it matter for either of our petitions? Will this affect the petitions in either way since I am the USC?

8-13-07: Sent package with I-129F to CSC overnight

9-25-07: NOA 1 recv

3-04-08: Approval Notice Sent

5-15-08:Interview Date

07-28-08:Visa Received (AP Hell 73 days)

08-02-08:US Entry (K-3)

08-05-08: Sent EAD package to CSC

12-07-08: Finally recvd EAD

04-20-09: AOS sent

07-23-09: AOS Interview-APPROVED!

I'd wait until you have finished the process. You may open a can of worms!

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

I changed my last name to my husband's before I filed any of our paperwork and it didn't have any impact on the petition at all. You will have to file using your maiden name though. At the interview my husband was asked who the petitioner was and he told them my wife and used my current name. She had to ask him again and wanted to know what my name was prior to our marriage. Shouldn't be a problem.
