Meriem,

Here goes it will be hard for her to overcome this but by the medical stand point that you have said if she gets a doctor to write a letter to whom it may concern on her service center for filing she might have a chance or it can backfire. Reasons why is part of this I did before.

1. We knew we could not get a visitors visa. So I knew I could try hardship on not meeting. I claimed I was widow, diabetic, small kids, muslim, had no one to literally help with the family and showed the cost of taking me and two kids to Pakistan was running around 9 thousand dollars time we did visas, travel, etc. This was a K1 back in 2003. It was shot down and never got to NVC. I was told to meet him or the application was voided in 60 days. Plus, travel warnings against americans going to Pakistan.

2. I know she is disabled now. What type of income does she have and will she have a co signer?

This is how I ended up going to Pakistan and marrying Ishteaq and coming back and applying for the CR1.

I can only say to tell her it will be an uphill battle and I wish them the best.

Mary

USCIS believes that travel problems for money and inconvenience are no excuse because everybody who has to travel overseas to see their SO has to take those risks as well. And also claiming that you don't have the money to travel is not a good one either, because they'll wonder how in the hell you are going to support this person when they get here...

My issue was the travel warnings and health. Money for three to go was the issue not one. I am saying they will not budge on the not meeting that I know of. I have not seen anyone on VJ get this done. They have to go and meet.

I thought it terror threats were in effect and female alone with kids traveling would cause some leincy but it did not.

Everything I respond to is from personal knowledge, research or experience and I am in no means a lawyer or do I claim to be one. Everyone should read, research and be responsible for your own journey.

Yes, they are hard to overcome... and I have seen some decisions where travel warnings were issued, and the petitioner used that as hardship, but they don't go for it, they want you guys to meet in a 3rd country.

Meriam I'd have to say this will probebly be raised as a red flag from his side. If there are any other red flags, age, kids, etc. They will be raised at his level. I hate to say this and I don't mean this towards him, just being devil's advocate. They will probebly scruitinize him as soon taking advantage even if he is not. They will need a TON of proof.

JP.. my theory is that they will be scrutinized more at the interview.. but that's just my opinion.

With her circumstances, I wouldn't say it is a long shot for USCIS... Looking through denied K-1 meeting petitions, there's not too many denied for serious medical reasons... It's casa, yanno..

Ok girls, I need some help. I met a really sweet person who is in love with a guy from Morocco. They have known each other for three years, talking on the internet, skype and on the phone. They are in love and want to get married but there is a catch. She had a brain injury a few years ago and had to learn to do everything again. She is nearly blind but uses a special program on her computer to make the text bigger so she can see. She was bedridden at one time but is slowly learning to be mobile again, but has a lot of trouble walking. She met him as she was recurperating and he has been a big inspiration in her recovery. I have talked with her fiance also and he really wants to marry her. They are asking me for help to get them started. Her doctors say she is not able to travel to Morocco and I dont think he could get a visa to come visit her. I need some advice about what to do for her. She is very bright and knows what she wants and it is to marry her love. I think they deserve to be together, but I am at a loss to tell her what to do as far as getting around the requirement to meet in person. What do you think?

Meriem (F)

Just a couple of suggestions...can she travel to Canada or a 3rd country that may give him a tourist visa? Do you know her as a friend offline, or is there any hurry? Maybe you can coordinate a trip with her (her dr may object but with a friend's help perhaps it is doable. Just a thought. Hopefully they will think of something.

I agree with you, but how to tell her this. She has her hopes up to marry this guy. They have known each other for three years. I told her she needed a lot of proof of their relationship. Emails, phone records. They send a lot of packages to each other. I told her to save all this to. I know it will be an uphill battle for her. But she wants to try. Inshaallah, I will do my best to help her.

Thanks, Meriem (F)

Can't I live on the east coast ?!?

I just got off the phone with him. He's so calm it's scaring me. He's like "Albe I love you and that's all that matters, they will see it and know it. We have nothing to hide."

I'm just a bag of emotions. I freak out, then I'm calm, then I'm scared, then I'm happy, then I'm excited, then I freak out again and it's a great cycle. I swear that's what my last two weeks have been like. I'm calling in sick on the 18th cuz I know I will not sleep all night worrying my booty off. Inshallah if his interview is at 10:30 I will hear from him buy 2 a.m. or so. I told my co-workers "I'm not coming on the 18th cuz its the most important day of our lives" the said "not the wedding ?" I said "No because there will be no wedding if it's not for this day."

Almost 9 days .... ;)

I feel like sometimes I'm always the bad apple bursting peoples bubbles ... but seriously how can you bring someone to the US if you havent even met them ? How does this girl know that he is not some seriel killer or going after the visa ? When you go to their country and meet them you can answer these questions. Yeah she has medical conditions ... but it would look suspicious to me. I agree with JP and icey ... good luck Meriem in helping this girl.

Reunited and it feels so good ....

If he is a convicted serial killer, I'm sure the USCIS/NVC/Consulate would find out? But yeah, I'd feel too creeped out providing financial support and my home to someone I've never met.. It would just be way too awkward.

But I'm just interjecting this as my personal opinion, I have my own standards, and the USCIS has their own as well... It's up to them to decide, but she should really check out the appealed cases.
