A big group HI to everyone! I don't check in too much now days. I don't want to blow up my laptop again and reading the forums tend to make me a bit sad some days. Still no news on Amrs visa. :crying: I'm getting very homesick now. Egypt has been a bit crazy the past few weeks. Seems to be situations between the courts and the police. From what I have seen and heard, the police hear can basically arrest you for any reason whatsoever, then the judge at the courts proves the individual innocent. The police here, I have been told are out to make money, thus the arrests. Our favorite coffee shop is right around the corner from the police station and every evening the crowd of people "waiting" to see if friends and family will be let out is just obsurd. Of course when things like this happen, in the back of my mind I wonder if this is another reason it is taking longer for Amrs visa.

I hope all is well with everyone! I have been trying to read through these posts today to catch up on everything! Keep cool everyone! :P

Are they waiting for bribes to NOT get arrested, or what?!

Oh yeah, it's all about the money. What's scary, is that Amr and another friend he met through another VJ member here are teachers. The type of teachers they are, are in high demand in Egypt and basically when anyone with a good job is not working the police will question it thinking they did something bad in their jobs so that is why they can't work. It's really a very scary situation. A lot of people don't even want to leave their homes right now because they are afraid.

Hey it's nice to see you posting again! I was thinking about you just yesterday. Mohammed is telling me in his city things are getting weird too. They will no long sell e-voice cards to "Egyptians" and the internet cafes have to close at midnight now (except for the christian-owned cafe where goes ALHAMDULELLAH). Something is in the air in the government there. I know costs are going through the roof.

Hang in there kiddo... you're one day closer!

The police in Egypt are scary creatures. If you are a cop in Egypt, you are "immune" from darn near anything and that includes logic and morals. My father-in-law is a cop and I know it well. They do as they please and enjoy playing "god". Sorry to be negative, but the cops in Egypt made our lives pure hell. I have little use for them.

I can't believe all the stuff that went down in here! WOW and I was only gone for 1 day.. It took me a full hour to read the multitudes of pages that accumulated since yesterday!!! I'm glad to see it's back to normal (or at least normal for us). I so wish I had more time to come in here.. Today is my off day so I've been doing a lot of catching up and maaaaaan my eyeballs are tired.

on the "eye" thing.. I got a really neat wall hanging with the eye on it when I was in Jordan. I didn't know the significance of it at the time...Just thought it looked cool. Noor told me about it afterwards and I was like..ohhh...am I good or what!! hehehehehe

WOW only 2 weeks left, well when it gets down to one week I will make you a countdown thread! :star: OMG I am sooooooooooooooo excited for you. Tell Ali that I said he is gonna fly right through this thing. From what I have heard about him from you, sounds like he is gonna charm their pants off!!! Glad u liked the card! :D

I wish I could find a way to make the time pass by faster, I have been so bored lately. Maybe I should start planning for the cruise.

I was joking with my hunny when we got the interview date. I know its 10 months, but when we first heard the date, we calculated it to be 9 months at first. So we said we are pregnant, We are expecting a little baby visa :P

LB, yeah, 14 days to go, so so happy for you and you SO!!!!!!! I guess it's my turn to come down with a touch of flu. Great! Anyway, my daughter is better and I'm looking at 3 and 1/2 more months to go till interview time. Trying to get my husband prepped ahead of time. Sometimes, he just thinks he knows all.

Just wanted to let you know that my first novel was released yesterday!!:dance: I am so excited. I am posting a link here if any of you care to purchase and read it! It's available only online right now through the publishing company, Barnes and Noble and Amazon. The title is: Private Dancer.

http://www.publishamerica.com/shopping/sho....asp?Search=Yes

Thanks all. Wish I would have gotten a big advance on this, lol would have helped with all the immigration documents. I did mention my husband in the acknowledgement. Hope the embassy recognizes this too.

Congrats to any of you who have gotten a visa after being on AR.

Andrea

Well, it was reported that the link for my novel doesnt' always work. If you are interested, you can go to www.publishamerica.com and click on the online store and then type in Private Dancer and it will take you to my novel. Or you can go to www.barnesandnoble.com or www.amazon.com and get it there too. Private Dancer by Andrea Infante. Thanks for all of your support.
