Or what about just going for some nice long hikes together, take a picnic, have a nice long talk . . . relax and have fun!

thanks for the nice segue, Liz! I often wear gandoura around the house and to sleep in and some nice moroccan outfits for special functions. I always wear a djellaba or gandoura to cover my costumes between sets when I dance. as for wearing them to work, I'm always too hot... gotta wear t-shirts and jeans or skirts!

I always get many compliments on my moroccan attire.

OH!!!! and I very regularly wear the cute little pointy toed shoes from Morocco - almost daily! They are so comfortable and I get lots of comments/compliments on those everywhere I go! I have about 5 or 6 pairs- I'm a shoe hound!

Thanks honey..same for me! :star:

LMAO...not only could I not find size 9 shoes in jordan...but the clothing sooooooooo small. There were points when I was in Mecca Mall and Abdoun Mall that I'd look at the clothing in disbelief. Everything was small, for barbies. What I eventually learned, is that the women (at least in my family) had to have their clothes tailor made because thats the only way to get clothes that fit.

Can you imagine how much money a Lane Bryant would make in Jordan? Anyone care to invest with me?:lol:

It got so bad that my husband actually broke down and did a load of whites without me prompting *faints* He'll usually help when I do it, but this is the first time he's done it on his own. Break through!

My husband will *never* do (real) laundry, he'll just wear around dirty clothes instead if I don't do it. It pisses me off, but I knew that when I married him and I've had to accept it.

I drew the line last night when he told me to make the bed. That didn't go over too well.:lol:

i wanted to add. and maybe im being a butthead, but i dont care for the arabian style dresses at all.....i got one as a gift and ended up giving it to my sis in law....i dont know, maybe cause im young, but i live in PJ pants, and couldnt have it any other way.....and JP i know how u feel about the clothes in jordan, when i rented my wedding dress i was soooo embarrased trying to get a size five dress over me, only so the seamstress could take my measurments and alter it for my size 11 behind.....sofyan always pushed me to buy clothes, but its sooo embarrassing cause they are allllllll toooo small, and i also, was forced into the ugliest shoes for my wedding because im an 8.5 and im pretty sure most shoes stopped at 7.5, not saying anything bad, but, ive seen a million bigger girls in jordan, how do they live? i never understood that...

...my husband like to put on his saudi thobe sometimes...

When you said this in the same conversation as the shoes it brought to mind this picture I see sometimes in the mornings. Abdel will be standing in the bathroom in his boxer briefs brushing his teeth, and would be so sexy except he's wearing these Bass Pro Shop gray and black hunting socks that are super thick and almost to his knees (I love them for around the house on cold days) and the white beaded slippers he brought me from Morocco. I almost double over I laugh so hard. He is such a comic sometimes. (yes, I told him I was posting this before I did it so he knows!)

Quick Question :

Thanks !

LB, I did a search on limewire and came up with Tony Kewan or Kiwan. Abdel is saying that isn't right though so I guess that isn't the original artist or the right song. Abdel thought it was Raghib Alama, but now he's saying maybe it is Tony Kewan since he can't find it under the other guy.

You say "It's up to the indivual to discuss what they like without someone coming in making everyone feel like they can't discuss something because they think it's not right". This is exactly what you are doing. You disagree with my posts (I am assuming) so you are suggesting I not post.

Read my posts. I never suggested anyone stop discussing "laundry". I said go ahead. I only said how my circumstances are different, and apparently I am not the only one. None of us suggested anyone stop the discussion. No one judged anyone -- they shared how it is different for them.

Rebecca

No disrespect to others, but I agree with Angel, no one asked what anyones husband would think. Not everyone shares the same beliefs. :star:

JP,

You have posted what your husband/fiance thinks about things without anyone asking. We have discussed going out late at night, showing skin, bathing suits and all kinds of things. I post that the sex talk would bother my husband and suddenly, we are not supposed to share what our husbands's think because it wasn't asked for?

Rebecca

I have been reading these forums for a long time now even though I recently joined and I guess I can't quite figure out the rules.

People can say to Rahma they would never wear the bathing suit she chooses to wear and that isn't belittling. She can also say how she gave up jeans and you can say how you never would do that and that your husband likes jeans.. VeiledPrincess may post about the Quran and then is told she shouldn't do that.

So what exactly are the rules? Are you the VJ police? Are you the owner? Who are you to say what and what not to post?

Is it when someone is more conservative that others can speak up, but those that are coservative should not say what they think? Or recite Quran if they want? This forum is to post about whatever one feels or thinks, not what you or the other less conservative think we should.

I'm not trying to start anything here, but I am trying to figure this out because it is clear as mud to me right now. Why should you feel belittled if Rebecca or her husband don't like to talk about their sex life on this forum? I saw others felt the same. NO ONE told you not to post about it. We only said that we wouldn't, so why censor anyone?

I think YOU should lighten up as well. :luv:

Not sure if you are directing this to me or not, but since you included my quote I'm gonna respond to you. First of all, are you the VJ police? You have been a member for 2 days and I have yet to see you post something positive. I think you are judging way toooooo quickly. I for one did not belittle the swimsuit Rahma said she would wear, I simply stated I could not wear that becasue I can't handle the heat. I NEVER told Leila not to post religious quotes from the quran, and to be quite honest, I don't particularly care to read religious quotes from quran but I just passed them right by. She has the right to post what she wants, and I have the right not to read and comment on the things I dont care for which is exactly what others should do.

I don't feel belittled if Rebecca and her husband don't talk about doing the "laundry" on this forum or even in real life. Had Rebecca come here and said she does not feel comfortable talking about it, thats one story. However the comments people made were more like indirect blows than anything else.

I think you need to get to know all of here a bit more before you jump in here and make judgements on us.

JP My mother in law is a seamstress and as a matter of fact the larger women bring what article of clothing they like and she makes a bigger version. At one point I was thinking of living in Irbid Jordan with my husband that's one of the reason's i took my son with me to see how he felt in that kind of environment ok so that was a no go  So we kicked around some ideas about him opening his own shop. I noticed when I went shopping there was only size large which really was a small medium. Anyways I asked him where do all the larger women shop. He told me that they have like one store that kind of sells bigger clothes, but if you want something bigger you have to put a request in at the factory where it was made. Say like in Amman or they take it to his mother or some other ladies that make clothes. So I said how come we don't open a shop that sells clothes to larger women I told him we can make a lot of money, but he told me a shop like that wouldn't make as much because they would be embarassed to go in there. I think it would have worked if we offered clothes to both consumers. Oh and sold shoes up to size 11. My mother in law wears the same as me if not a little bigger. I sent her like 4 pairs of shoes. good thing i took clothes with me for every day i was there.

They do have some nice clothes there and cheap and some nice shoes but too small. Believe me i wanted to buy all kind of clothes but couldn't because of the size. I mean i'm not big just average but still everything was small. I do plan on moving there sometimes in the future. I'll keep that store idea in mind!

I guess I do owe Leila an apology. If she wants to post the Quran, that's her business. I guess I was just trying to let her know that not everyone here is Muslim, so what it says doesn't control our lives. That doesn't give me a right to disrespect the fact that it does control hers and many others here.

Leila, feel free to post the Quran any time you want (F) and I can just skip it if I don't want to read it. I'm a big girl!
