Are we putting it on our credit card?

Isn't it disgusting the amount of money going into the Iraq ####### shoot, They should take half or even 1/3 of that & put it towards securing our own border, enforcing the immigration laws, hiring border patrol, And prosecuting employers who hire Illegals,

That's a simple! Some people's brains can only comprehend so much. After that is gets a little hard for them.

Instead of illegal immigration, let's start focusing on something fun - and educational: piracy. Arr.

We can start by getting rid of the pork spending and UN fees.

If we want to talk about drawn out war or long troop deployments.

Balkens (90's)

Eastern Europe (WW2 has been over for 60 years and the USSR has crumbled)

Korean War has never official ended that's under a ceasefire (50 years)

Right, but in general, our troop levels are in the low thousands, and they don't have all kinds of extra expenses. Nor are we hiring very expensive mercenaries.

Iraq is likely to be a long drawn out deployment, maybe as long as a decade or two. Especially if we piss off Iran, we will continue to have over 100,000 troop in the area, that are likely to be in almost constant combat.

We spent 190 billion in Iraq this year alone. If that level of spending continues, we will have spend 2 trillion in the next 10 years.

Right now China is buying a large portion of that debt. If they see the investment to have little return, they will likely stop buying the US treasuries used to fund the war. Which means, in order to keep our troops in Iraq, we will have to raise taxes quite a bit.

Maybe if we do it now, more people would care as they are more directly effected by the cost of the war.

Iran's been pissed for decades. They declared war on the West in the 70's.

Right, but they haven't openly interfered in Iraq up to now. There are some hawks on the US side that say we should be attacking Iran, and if we do, that will give them sufficient justification to openly engage in Iraq.

The US attacking Iran would be a bonehead move. Iraq was a bonehead move. As much of a tyrant Saddam was, he kept the lid on the the boiling pot.
