I hope that someone can help me? After I got married in 01-13-07 I file my I-485. Shortly after I received a notice saying that they need additional Information. Sent Immigration everything they asked for. I was denied because they said that could not verify my income. I spoke with 2 immigration officers one at my local office in Orlando and one in California where they AOS was sent. Both told me to resend the package back along with any additional documents. I had my accountant print out the last two years of my returns. By the way I am self employed and make good money. I sent the package back within the 30 days time period to reopen the case. Immigration sends it back to me over a month later saying that a fee was required in the amount of $385.00. Remind you Neither one of the immigration officers told me I had to send a fee. After sending the fee over night express mail return receipt with signature from immigration they send it back to me a month later saying that the fee is $585.00. I send it once again over night. I receive notice that the fee was received. Today I received a letter from immigration saying that since the motion to reopen was received in the 30 day time to reconsider this case still remains denied period. No other information was giving to me as to what to do next. I filed within the 30 days and have proof that they did receive it but because the fee was not enclosed they sent it back. Does that mean in there eyes it was not filed within the 30 day period? Can anybody help point me in the right direction. Do I need to hire an attorney? I feel immigration has been very dishonest with me they should of sent me my money back saying that we cannot process your case because the time period to reopen has expired instead they cashed my check first and then denied me. Please if anyone has any answers for me let me know. Thank you all very much for taking the time to answer me.
