mines pretty much the same as others....... what does sapa_uscan really mean?

Sa - first two initials of my wifes first name

Pa - first two initials of my first name

Us - first two initials of my wifes country (USA)

Can - first three initials of my country (Canada)

So, to add it up - SaPa_UsCan...

Hello Every Lovely Person Here,

Thankgodddd for this thread, for this forum.

I have only recently braved diving in, and only after reading such informative, loving and kind posts.

What great stories! Thank you.

What a difference from the only other forum I play in.

They are brutal. Sharks. Those of us who survive the newbie status and beyond (way beyond), have grown thick skin. Not something I think is a good thing. I am digressing though.

Hopefully you are still interested in reading another story.

Sit back, relax, and take a deep breathe.

Let it fill your belly.

Release it sloooooowwwwlllyyyyy....

mmmmm...

Please do take this in the spirit in which it is meant: friendship, love and compassion. (F) (F) (F)

I sometimes call myself a pagan anarchist.

Not because I identify with being an atheist or anything extreme really...I am simply allergic to paperwork and authority.

So, you can imagine how much fun I've been having since the romance of wanting to live with the man I love turned into an inhumane, disrespectful, unreasonable wait times that seem to be growing like a weed on acid, never-ending nightmare of forms, hoops, fees, border-barriers, et al.

Do I sound bitter? :unsure:

As an adult child, and living in the moment, each month feels like an eternity.

I am used to feel like a free person.

I had lived as a kind of nomad in my city for a decade and travelled for almost 3 years in and out the U.S. on sailing adventures....sometimes for a weekend, sometimes for a month or two.

I believe I can do/be what is right for me, without causing harm to others, and bringing much Love & Light to every-one I meet. I do not believe in nationalism nor patriotism. How could anyone say one's country is better than another? And who but yourself can have authority over you? I believe separation brings up (propagates) fears, hence fighting and killing. I truly believe love and compassion can heal all.

Ah, but my idealistic feelings and ways of being do not work in this game of sign here, go there, wait, wait, wait, now go!

How does one stay in integrity and go though this?

And that great confession of how challenging it is to be good to your lover when living apart and all you have is the phone...it just sucks. We only ever get frustrated when we are apart. Of course we are together for such short bursts, who would waste such precious time?

Does anyone else here think that a 90 day time period to get married once you enter the U.S. is ludicrous? With a divorce rate of over 50%, you'd think that immigration would insist people live together for a year before tying the knot. I believe in spending 4 seasons with someone to get to know them better....living together. Oh but we are not allowed such reasonable and logical requests. Hmmmm... make do make do....

Forgive my inability to say anything good at the moment. I have been crying for 3 days and do not feel well.

This process and its inability to make any sense to me, has taken its toll.

/rant

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Changing tacks:
My precious fiancé and I met debating on a sailing forum.
He ended up inadvertently giving me a new login name. I loved what he called me so much, and his tenacity and courage to argue with me, as I am quite adamant (no kidding, huh?), I ended up asking him to marry me in that same thread. I was kidding of course, as I never thought I'd get re-married. Then the group started planning a virtual wedding. And that hijack was so much fun, we PMed and then emailed. A lot!
After a week or so of this, I caught myself completely off guard when I picked up my cellphone and dialed his number. Once it rang, I couldn't hang up! He'd see the number. We talked late into the night.
I already knew. I could feel it. You know? (L)
After trying to dissuade him that a long distance relationship and one between two first-borns would never work, he bought an airplane ticket to come and meet me...for NINE days! The moment I saw him at the airport, any doubt left and I hid. I knew I really did love him, and AAAHHH, now what was I gonna do?! I was terrified. He found me hiding behind a post, and much to the delight of on-lookers (Seattle airport), he came right up to me and kissed me. I backed away just laughing and laughing and he did it again. After the 3rd time, he pulled a red rose from under his jacket, handed it to me, and I grabbed his wrist and pulling him towards the seats. "We have to sit." I was feeling weak, shocked!
We sat, and I had my hand on his knee and I was staring into his beautiful oceanic blue eyes, and he broke the silence, "I'm real." Well, I almost passed out. Ha! This is something I have never experienced. I knew I was in all the way. After a decade of fierce independence, he is the one I want to be with. That night, I drove us back to Vancouver, we wrapped ourselves around each other in the V-berth of the boat (I lived on at that time) and it felt perfect. Safe. Sweet. Loving. After teasing him, being playful, and him calling me a brat, I said, "Oh but you love the brat" in a joking kind of way. And he got all serious, "As a matter of fact..." I looked at him, the smile wiped off my face, "I do the love the brat. And, well, I wasn't planning on saying it this quickly: I love you." (it went something like that) That was last November.
I am now in Montreal and he is in Chicago.
Waiting.
Good night all.
Writing this was (again) great therapy.
Thank you for reading it.
flames, get a cover-up tat rather than have it lasered off. By all accounts, lasering is more painful than the tattoo ever was, and takes quite a few visits and is very expensive, and of course not covered by any insurance. A cover-up would take only a couple hours and cost a whole lot less!
Or just live with the teddy bear on the anchor ;)
lol, I need to get rid of the damn bear!! What was i thinking!! lol
Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:
1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer
2) Be confident in ur replies
3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!
4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!
5) Pack light! No job resumes with you
6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)
7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!
8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
Hello Everybody...it's been a long time since I've been here. My old computer would crash every time I tired to reply here. We just bought a new computer this week...but we're still on Dial-up (only thing available in our area!!!). I see a few familiar names here. I've always loved reading the forums. Visa Journey certainly helped us along the way. Here's our story in a nutshell.....
Bruce (USC) was vacationing in Newfoundland (my home) with his buddy, Jack in June 2004. A bunch of us had a little welcoming for the guys (as Jack used to be stationed in NL back in the 60's). The first time I saw Bruce there was a connection but he was leaving the next day. I told Jack to email me to let me know they got back okay. He did and told me Bruce said HELLO and gave me his email address. We corresponded back and forth, then he had a $900 phone bill and got the US to Canada telephone package...lol. Bruce came back to NL in October and we knew it was the real thing. He kept coming back every 4 or 5 months, and I went to Maine a couple of times. He asked me to marry him in August 2005. We stated the F1 Visa process in November 2005. Got married May 16, 2006 and live in Maine. Got my Green Card in February 2007.
I'm still very homesick (the 'old' gang here heard lots of my laments!!!lol) I'm not crazy about where we live and I'm a true blue Canadian through and through. We would live in Canada but Bruce has a good job here but when he retires we will move back to NL ...it's in the pre-nups....lol
People don't have much of a sense of humour here. I have been here over 18 months and haven't got a friend yet. And I was a very social person back home. I've tried volunteering,etc. but people don't want outsiders here!!! Oh well, it sucks to be them.
But the good news is I finally got a job..... I will be starting at the Bank of America next week. Hopefully I will meet all kinds of nice folks there. Keep your fingers crossed.
Again it is so nice to be back. Take care and God bless. And I hope nobody takes this personal about me not fitting in here because having said all this I still married the greatest guy in the world and we love each other dearly! {{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}
I've been meaning to do this for awhile, it's a lazy Saturday morning and so...now is the time.
I'm 26 years old and this year, I was reborn.
Currently I live with my parents who have been married for 30 years. I have a younger brother Paul who is in college for photography, he's 20. I'm a singer, I love acting and anything artistic. I also enjoy creative writing and poetry. I really enjoy cooking and gardening and I'm an animal nut. I'm also super in to gaming online and chatting on the internet (really?!? :blink: ) LOL
When I was 13 things changed for me. I had depression, and quite badly. For the next few years of my life I was in bed, sleeping. All I wanted to do was sleep. When I was 15, I dropped out of high school. I lost interest in piano and theatre, swimming and pathfinders. I lost friends. That was a very dark time in my life. When I was 16 I met Jamie, my ex. I know now that I met him for a reason. He helped me through my depression. Jamie was 6 years older than I was, and yet, he wasn't ready to be a man. We moved out in 2003 and even then I didn't see the signs. He was horrible with money, he was never home and didn't care about the house or me. My self esteem was greatly lacking. I was comfortable in the security of playing on the "safe side" and he was all I had ever known. I didn't have a drivers's license and I worked at a ####### job. I really had nothing of my own. We got married for the completely wrong reasons and soon after I realized..."what was I doing?!" We basically lived apart under the same roof for over 6 months before I left. We slept in separate rooms and it was a very hard time.
I was terrified to be on my own.
I had met Nick online while playing a video game in late 2005 while I was still living with Jamie. He was in a relationship and him and I were fast friends. He made me laugh and our conversations flowed nicely. We saw each other online occasionally, whenever he was on I'd say hi, and vice versa. In early 2006, I had noticed that I hadn't seen Nick online in many months and I wondered where he was.
One day I logged on the game and Nick was online, I hadn't seen him in awhile and we decided to team together and just talk. It was a great time. We got each other's msn and began chatting on messenger. A short time later (June 2006), a girlfriend of mine decided that her and I should go on a trip and she chose NYC. I knew that Nick lived in NJ so I said "Hey, wanna meet for coffee or something?" I had never met anyone from the internet before but I thought he was a great guy. At the time, he was still in his relationship (which was a train wreck btw) and I was still technically living with my ex, there were sparks between us and so, he said no. It wasn't right timing.
From the moment I got home from that trip we talked non-stop. We made each other questionnaire's, asking so many questions about each other, we shared stories and told each other everything. I had said that I didn't want to get in to a relationship at all, I wanted to just be on my own but we had growing feelings and I couldn't help the way I was feeling about him. I didn't push them on him because he was just getting over his 3 year relationship. We helped each other through a very crazy time in both our lives and I was falling for him. Over the next few months we talked non-stop, all day. I bought a cell phone so we could text all the time.
I finally decided to move back home. Leaving was clean because really, we had both already moved on. Nick and I decided to meet in September 2006 and the moment he walked up my steps I knew....this was it. The rest is history. 9 visits (10 at Christmas), hours upon hours of voice chatting/webcam, text messaging and moment of silence filled with electricity were to follow.
It's so crazy..if he had not logged on when he had and my girlfriend would not have chosen NYC, I don't think we'd be where we are.
Our relationship was the perfect relationship for me. Because he is in NJ it has allowed me to grow on my own. This past year I went back and got my high school diploma, top of my class and valedictorian. I got my driver's license and finally got a new job. I have so many dreams and I want to realize them by his side.
Instead of living my life for the other person (Like I've always done in the past) I'm living for me and he is just a wonderful bonus. I want to go to school once I go to the states. I want to be a music teacher. I don't care where we get married, justice of the peace or the courthouse, I don't care. I just want a future with him. I want to be a family.
Now that I've grown so much and I'm realizing my own strength, We want to move on to the next step.
This past year has been so liberating and I'm so excited to start our journey.
Thanks for reading :)
