:) Hi everyone...I'm new to VJ. I met my fiance in a chatroom 2 yrs ago. We met October 2006 but were very cautious about making a commitment at that time. Once I got home, we realized that we loved each other and wanted to be together. Before making that commitment, we felt that the kids needed to meet and we all needed to spend time together. So in March, my daughter and I went to spend a month with Larry and his sons. We all found we can live together which is really good. On the Thursday before Easter, Larry proposed and I accepted. Before I left to come back to Cochrane, we had the I-129F application filled out and ready to be sent in.

We have been approved and I am now waiting for the paperwork to go from NVC to the consulate.

I have been reading here on VJ that Montreal is slow. How slow is slow? I would love to be able to start my new life with my new hubby for the new year. Anyone think that is possible?

Oh ya - my id. Well, when I started in chat I had ppl tell me I had a beautiful heart. So bheart came to be, but many have shortened it to BH. My real name is Kelly.

Welcome to VJ kelly, glad you made hun and decided to register as a member of visajourney.

Guys, Kelly is a friend of mine from Yahoo chat, i've known her for quite some time, her and her fiance were going through the process on their own so i suggested VJ to them, i hope you will make her feel welcome! and help her out if she needs some help! :D

Thanks :thumbs:

pls don't be doing anything different cause I'm a newbie....i've been around Maria for a while... :whistle:

Hello Every Lovely Person Here,

Thankgodddd for this thread, for this forum.

I have only recently braved diving in, and only after reading such informative, loving and kind posts.

What great stories! Thank you.

What a difference from the only other forum I play in.

They are brutal. Sharks. Those of us who survive the newbie status and beyond (way beyond), have grown thick skin. Not something I think is a good thing. I am digressing though.

Hopefully you are still interested in reading another story.

Sit back, relax, and take a deep breathe.

Let it fill your belly.

Release it sloooooowwwwlllyyyyy....

mmmmm...

Please do take this in the spirit in which it is meant: friendship, love and compassion. (F) (F) (F)

I sometimes call myself a pagan anarchist.

Not because I identify with being an atheist or anything extreme really...I am simply allergic to paperwork and authority.

So, you can imagine how much fun I've been having since the romance of wanting to live with the man I love turned into an inhumane, disrespectful, unreasonable wait times that seem to be growing like a weed on acid, never-ending nightmare of forms, hoops, fees, border-barriers, et al.

Do I sound bitter? :unsure:

As an adult child, and living in the moment, each month feels like an eternity.

I am used to feel like a free person.

I had lived as a kind of nomad in my city for a decade and travelled for almost 3 years in and out the U.S. on sailing adventures....sometimes for a weekend, sometimes for a month or two.

I believe I can do/be what is right for me, without causing harm to others, and bringing much Love & Light to every-one I meet. I do not believe in nationalism nor patriotism. How could anyone say one's country is better than another? And who but yourself can have authority over you? I believe separation brings up (propagates) fears, hence fighting and killing. I truly believe love and compassion can heal all.

Ah, but my idealistic feelings and ways of being do not work in this game of sign here, go there, wait, wait, wait, now go!

How does one stay in integrity and go though this?

And that great confession of how challenging it is to be good to your lover when living apart and all you have is the phone...it just sucks. We only ever get frustrated when we are apart. Of course we are together for such short bursts, who would waste such precious time?

Does anyone else here think that a 90 day time period to get married once you enter the U.S. is ludicrous? With a divorce rate of over 50%, you'd think that immigration would insist people live together for a year before tying the knot. I believe in spending 4 seasons with someone to get to know them better....living together. Oh but we are not allowed such reasonable and logical requests. Hmmmm... make do make do....

Forgive my inability to say anything good at the moment. I have been crying for 3 days and do not feel well.

This process and its inability to make any sense to me, has taken its toll.

/rant

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Changing tacks:
My precious fiancé and I met debating on a sailing forum.
He ended up inadvertently giving me a new login name. I loved what he called me so much, and his tenacity and courage to argue with me, as I am quite adamant (no kidding, huh?), I ended up asking him to marry me in that same thread. I was kidding of course, as I never thought I'd get re-married. Then the group started planning a virtual wedding. And that hijack was so much fun, we PMed and then emailed. A lot!
After a week or so of this, I caught myself completely off guard when I picked up my cellphone and dialed his number. Once it rang, I couldn't hang up! He'd see the number. We talked late into the night.
I already knew. I could feel it. You know? (L)
After trying to dissuade him that a long distance relationship and one between two first-borns would never work, he bought an airplane ticket to come and meet me...for NINE days! The moment I saw him at the airport, any doubt left and I hid. I knew I really did love him, and AAAHHH, now what was I gonna do?! I was terrified. He found me hiding behind a post, and much to the delight of on-lookers (Seattle airport), he came right up to me and kissed me. I backed away just laughing and laughing and he did it again. After the 3rd time, he pulled a red rose from under his jacket, handed it to me, and I grabbed his wrist and pulling him towards the seats. "We have to sit." I was feeling weak, shocked!
We sat, and I had my hand on his knee and I was staring into his beautiful oceanic blue eyes, and he broke the silence, "I'm real." Well, I almost passed out. Ha! This is something I have never experienced. I knew I was in all the way. After a decade of fierce independence, he is the one I want to be with. That night, I drove us back to Vancouver, we wrapped ourselves around each other in the V-berth of the boat (I lived on at that time) and it felt perfect. Safe. Sweet. Loving. After teasing him, being playful, and him calling me a brat, I said, "Oh but you love the brat" in a joking kind of way. And he got all serious, "As a matter of fact..." I looked at him, the smile wiped off my face, "I do the love the brat. And, well, I wasn't planning on saying it this quickly: I love you." (it went something like that) That was last November.
I am now in Montreal and he is in Chicago.
Waiting.
Good night all.
Writing this was (again) great therapy.
Thank you for reading it.
Ok, I guess I should put something here since I started the thread!
Trailmix is just that - trailmix (was eating trailmix one day and it inspired me).
My Husband and I have been married for just over 7 years, he is Australian. We married here in Canada. I only found out last year that I had American citizenship - derivative. I always figured my Mom was American as her Mother was - which was true and we documented that. What I didn't know was that my Father was too. One day I was reading a book on our family history and realized that as my Great Grandfather and Great Grandmother were from Wisconsin that he too was an American citizen - it was a big 'lightbulb' moment, standing in my living room alone holding the book and going YES!!
I have a Son from a previous marriage, who is a great person!
So after finding out about the citizenship we decided to move which started this visa thing. I think we have a pretty good timeline all in all and what are a few RFE's anyway!? We are moving to Nebraska, which is where one of my Sisters and her family live (also have another Sister w family in Texas).
But really I would rather live in Florida or Hawaii (spent 8 years in Singapore while growing up and also lived in Australia and New Zealand - like to be near the beach!) - which we just might do after we live in Nebbie for a while!
I want to get it laser'd off or maybe they can draw something over it??? The good old drinkin days,lol
Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:
1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer
2) Be confident in ur replies
3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!
4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!
5) Pack light! No job resumes with you
6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)
7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!
8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
Hey KJ, thanks for the new Halloween email I'll be sending out: "Happy Halloweenie!" :lol::lol:
Well, the name's easy - he's Derek (the Canadian) and I am KJ (USC) and we met at the museum I work at. He used to travel quite frequently in the US on business (I think one year he was home a total of about 20 days) and did some work with the museum several years before I even started there. Anyway, after his job was completed, Derek stayed friends with my boss and a couple other guys here. We met a few weeks after I started and he says that he liked me the moment he saw me, but refused to ask me out because I was dating someone else at the time. Guess he was trying to be a gentleman. :lol: So we were friends first, occassionally calling/emailing/hanging out when he was in town, etc. for about a year or so.
When I finally dumped the loser, Derek waited about a nano-second to ask me out. We dated for about 9 months flying back and forth about once a month or so from DC to Burlington, VT (about a 2 hour drive from Derek's home in Montreal - thank God for the now defunct Independence Air!) We were engaged for about 3 months and did a quicky wedding to get the whole immigration process started. Took longer than expected (just about 300 days) but he finally moved down to the US on April 2006 and the rest as they say is history. We are currently preparing the 751 to get him his 10 year green card and then I hope not to have to deal with the INS again until 2017 or so!
And, sorry Scott, the Islanders are the best team and I still miss Denis Potvin. :crying:
Our turn....first....Mumsie's hillarious.... :lol: (as she pictures a set of 14 yr. old shaved testies..... :wacko: ).....
I am so glad to read about all the happy couples who met online...gaming, chatting, dating...how about busting your ex? anyone......anyone......(I love Ferris). I'll make it quick since I'm a late submitter and E1 is probably just skimming stories by now....
I'm the USC, Doug is my Canadian sex puppet...oh wait, "fiancee'", soon-to-be hubby. We met online (duh) when I registered a bogus profile on plenty of fish.com to bust the guy I'd been dating, after seeing a profile on his computer he was filling out for the site...apparently it wasn't the only one.....he was registered on many, including adult friend finder.com, internet porn dating site....aw schitt I digress...so Doug answered the "bogus" me, and we fell in love (the "real" me of course). Oh, after I broke up with Mr. Wonderful, I sent his profile pics from AFF to his family....after all, I thought it'd be nice for them to see how he "turned out" :lol::lol::lol:
Happy to meet everyone!
PS...sick thought....wonder if any fellow VJers met their loves on VJ... ;)
I hear ya...I have this ridiculous little flaming heart on my right one thanks to turning 30 while dating a guy with the last name "Hart", sigh. Daughter keeps trying to redesign it to cover it....yes, the one that designed the teddy/bazooka character (which BTW is actualy 12" x 18" big)! Ummmm......no thanks.....
I'll add my two cents worth. I am a newbie here. :) My log in name (pawfectchis) comes from my company. I breed Chihuahuas. The company name is Pawfect Chihuahuas Kennel and Dog Breeding. I have three as you can see from my photo. One male (Porkchop) two females (Apples Sauce & Soda Pop) I love them to death. :wub: I have one 10 year old son :devil: who has always been a handfull for me. I have raised him completely on my own. I have moved every year for the past 5 years, thank god for riding the wave at the right time. I also hold a full time position with the Cdn Forces on Vancouver Island. I have always enjoyed a busy life. I use to live Northern BC where I held many positions. Sub teacher, lifeguard, swimming instructor, air line worker, logging truck driver, low bed driver and chip hauler. A real red-neck back then. :innocent:
Now to begin this chapter.........I have been an air show organizer for the past 13 years. I work on event planning for our base as a secondary duty, all you military folk will know what that means. My main job is working with the Wadmin branch in the Central Registry (we push lots of paper) mainly. Working on the 2005 Armed Forces Day and Air Show this Tsgt from Hill AFB (US Military) contacted me to inform me his demo team was selected to come to my air show. I was the POC for all aircraft participating in the air show. We spoke on the phone and e-mail many times over until he arrived. He didn't follow instructions from me from the start and still doesn't so I know what I was getting into from the beginning. :o I asked him to meet me in the front of one of our hangers the next morning. I arrived to find him not there. I called his cell # which kept breaking up as he was in a cement hanger where the coverage is poor at best. I figured out that he went inside. I am sure for the next 45 mins to an hour we were missing each other on the different floors. I was getting pissed!! :bonk: When I finally found him I made the action towards him to slice his throat, like I was going to kill him. His response was "Don't mess with me" I guess I didn't take that literally and that was the start of it all.
We worked together through out the air show, when it was over he asked to take me for lunch that day, I accepted. He then spent the rest of the day/evening with me. We couldn't get enough of each other, dinner, movie and conversation. He went back to his base I stayed at mine. Over the next two years he travelled to air shows all over the world almost every week on the F-16 Demo Team which I attended some with him. So we have not had the chance to see each other often over those two years.
He comes here to my home some times to visit. I have a son and dogs so it is cheaper and less inconvenient for him to do the flying, than for me to buy two tickets and doggy sitters. I also volunteer with NASCAR at Homestead Miami Speedway, which he comes with me and helps out. We are both big NASCAR fans me Jr him Gordon. We leave in less than a month to again. This releationship has been very hard on me with times that he can't get time off work for reasons that I don't understand and get very frustrated with him for.
So here we are now trying to figure out which way we want to fill for this visa process, fiance, or get married here in Canada or in the US etc..............I have my heart set on a wedding date of 08 Aug 08. So if we do the fiance route we can plan on that still happening. Or get married now and start that process??? He says to me which is more important to marry him or the date............!!
That is my story and I am sticking to it. He is signed on here too desertrat69 (because he has been to the desert many times in his career) but is starting today as the second day of reading all the information. We both don't really have a clue as to how all this works but I have a better picture now that I've been on there for the past two weeks. I have already received great information on here. Thanks to trailmix for starting this, is enlighting and inspiring to read all the stories.
