Hi all, I'm new member in here and I wonder if anyone can help me.

I got my I-94 stamped for temporary working permit and it's about to expired this end of month (April 23, 06). We just got married last week and now we're still preparing the package for my AOS and EAD. Meanwhile I got some work interviews and most of the employers asked me about the working status. I don't blame them for not taking any risk about it, they asked me how fast I could get the new EAD and I said I don't know. (I guess only God and the USCIS officer can answer that, LOL). They only will hire me if I can get the new EAD before the current one expired.

My husband wonder is there any way I could extend the validity of my (current) working permit until I got the EAD approved? Is there any of you had this experience before, I know that you have to stop working if you I-94 expired and you haven't got the EAD approved (isn't it?). Any info regarding this, I really appreciate it. Thank you so much!

Unfortunately, you must wait for your EAD that you apply for in conjunction with your AOS. The sooner you send in your AOS/EAD apps, the sooner you'll get the EAD. If 90 days have passed since the receipt notice of your EAD application, then you may make an infopass appointment to get an interim EAD.

Sorry. Sucks, doesn't it?

This is the reason why the 90 days authorization of work associated with the K1 is utterly worthless... all you can do is work for 90 days and 99 times out of a hundred you have to stop working because you don't have an EAD yet which just pisses off your employer...

A message to everyone out there.. you would be better off focusing on getting your life together in the US while you wait for your EAD than trying to make the 90 day thing work. Anticipate that you will not be working for at least 5 to 6 months after you arrive...

Basically, I called the department of Social Security. As my fiance should be arriving shortly and we are getting married in Sept. They informed me that as long as you have a valid SSN # and it says work authorized you are allowed to work in the US. It is best for you to start working whilst on a K-1 Visa and get the SSn #. Most employers as long as you can show that you are married to a US citizen and the proper info will allow you to work. The lady at Admin of Social Security told me that it is a gray area. As the US does not expect for you to not work whilst you wait for an EAD. So, I would keep looking and definately inquire to department of SS and also immigration about this. Not all jobs in the US ask for a I-94. They basically ask for two forms of ID. ;)

I asked an employee, point-blank, if an alien should work after their temporary 30-day EAD has expired. She looked right at me and shrugged her shoulders...

I am looking for input about people working after their 90-day EAD has expired here.
