Can K-2 child travel question

My wife's 15 year-old daughter will be coming to the U.S. soon from Brasil. She has her K-2 interview in Mid-June but is not planning on coming to live in the U.S. until mid-August.

She has a school trip planned with friends to Disney World in Orlando at the beginning of July for 10 days. Since she will have her interview and K-2 visa approved by then, will it be a problem if she travels to Orlando on her tourist visa and then returns to Brasil and comes back to the U.S. in August on her K-2? Thanks.

i am not sure but if her k2 visa will be approved by then i dont think she should travel, as a k1 visa it is a one a time use so she can come and go with it.........

once she goes for interview she will submit her tourist visa so she wont have anything to travel with except the k2, at least that is how it worked for me and my son, remember tourist visa will be cut in front of you at the interview you have to give it away

You can only have one visa at a time... If you get a K2, her visitor visa will be cancelled.

She can have the interview, but she should not have them issue the visa. During the visa, she should explain her situation and can submit her passport at a later date to have the K2 visa issued...

Or she can arrive early on the K2 and go down to Florida to meet her friends at that time...

Thanks...I didn't realize that the Tourist visa would be canceled once the K-2 was issued.

Zyggy,

That's a good idea to have the interview prior to her trip to Florida but wait to get the visa stamp when she returns to Brasil. I'll call the embassy and see what they say about that. Thanks for the input.
