Is it possible get Asian television channels in the US? I don't know if there is something we could subscribe to so my fiancee could get some Thai or Korean TV channels here in the States. I'm hoping we wouldn't have to get some huge dish for something like this.

The cabel I used to have and the satellite I now have did offer Asian stations. I think the cable only have one Filipino station but satellite has several. Of course they cost extra

Yes, I'm sure it will cost extra, but if she wants, and it will give her a feeling of home, I'll pay for it.

 Right on Fortunately for me, Claudeth only wants to go to the Filipino grocery store...or is it fortunate for me

We will be going to all the asian markets. Well, I think there are only two or maybe three in the area. If we can't find all the things she likes, we will probably get it off the net. The sites I've seen even carry fresh produce for Thai food.

I got lucky and found a market that Claudeth just loves and it is only about five miles from our house

You can go online and order the system called "FREE TO AIR" (FTA) satellite system for under $250. You can get over 300 channels but most are middle eastern countries. They do have 9 Thai channels, 2 Laos, and many for the rest of Asian countries. Out of the 9 Thai Channels 3 you must pay for subscription to view. It is a really good deal. I have a complete system. That's all we watch here are Thai TV. They are broadcast from Los Angeles area.

If you would like more info, I can hook you right up and find you some good deals. I do this a lot for the Thai community in Sacramento.

Here are some sites where you can order the FTA system. Make sure you order a complete system (cheaper this way). The complete system comes with a receiver, LNBF and a Dish and make sure the dish size is at least 75 cm or 30+" in diameter. It's a little a larger than normal dish (18"-24").

This link is where you can buy the complete system. I ordered mine from them. My system is VIEWSAT VS-2000 ULTRA FTA SYSTEM. I paid $ 225 for them a year and a half ago. Right now it's going for $212. Again, there are so many brand out there and they are all pretty much operate the same. Like I said you just pay for the system and the majority of the channels are free. You pay no subscription.

This site explains a little bit about the "FREE TO AIR" (FTA) SATELLITE SYSTEM AND HOW YOU CAN INSTALL IT YOURSELF. IT PRETTY EASY AND I DID EVERYTHING BY MYSELF.

We subscribed to www.thaitv.tv. It costs $30 for three months and Rin was able to watch live Thai TV plus had access to thousands of recorded shows (talk shows, soap operas, movies). Will continue to use. The only down side has been watching on the computer. When we get back to the USA, we are going to connect to a TV, although I am unsure what kind of picture quality we'll get.

I'm not quite sure either. I know they have an adapter for conversion to TV but I don't know the picture quality. You can call the toll free 24-hour hotline they have on their website: www.thaitv.tv

Their network is in Los Angeles area. I believe they have longer subscription terms as well. The network name is IPTV.
