Police certificates for CR-1 in India

Could folks who have gone through the process clarify the police certificate requirements for the CR-1 interview at U.S consulates in India?

Does the beneficiary need a police certificate from every town/city in which they have resided since they were 16 years of age, or will the police certificate from the police jurisdiction associated with the current residence (provided it is greater than 6 months) suffice?

In the Philippines, they required for every city you have lived for more than 6 months since the age of 16.

Police Records

Indian Police Clearance Certificates should be obtained as follows:

• All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police certificates from the local Passport Office. These are usually more dependable than those obtained at a local level and indicate that the subject had no serious criminal convictions on record at the time of passport issuance. Applicants whose Indian passport was issued within the past six months may present just the Passport Office Police Certificate, and need not obtain additional police clearances.

• Applicants over age 16, whose passports were issued more than six months previous to visa application, must also obtain a police clearance from the District Police Office serving the applicant's place of residence.

Get them closer to the visa interview, and if don't have passport yet, get them when you get passport.

So is either 1 or 2 police certs per department of state.

It is a national level cert. The general meaning of a police cert from every place lived. "PLACE" = Country.

go to us consulate website of Mumbai or New delhi and ou will get all the answers... I just had to get one PCC so no tension was for me... because i have only one residence
