My wife's Birth Cert. was rejected for supposedly not being an original. But we sent the COPIA DE FOLIO which is a true copy of the original, with the official's signature on the back. Isn't this all we needed? Should there have been a special stamp on the back or should we have gotten it apostilled? Please help, thank you!

Rejected by whom?

If you got a "certified" copy from a notaria in Colombia, you should have been fine. That's what I used....and everyone that I know of. You definitely do NOT need to have the birth certificate apostilled.

By the way, for access to a lot of folks who have a lot of experience going through the process in Colombia, read and post to the "Colombia Club" thread in the embassy forum.

Thank you for your reply. Rejected by the NVC during there review of our DS-230 supporting documents. This process seems like it has been dragging on forever!!! Maybe they didn't notice it was a CERTIFIED copy. Ay ay ay! I called the NVC and they said they would have a supervisor review it so I am awaiting that now. I wish those people were more aware of what they were doing.
