I am unsure about whether I should send the DS-156 and DS-156K to the embassy. The instructions stated that I should return the form (instruction form) twice. Yet, at the end of the form, it stated that the enclosures should be DS156 and DS156K forms as well as Medical Instruction and DS230 part 1. I know that the DS230 does not apply to me bcos I have not lived in any other country for 6 months. The packet didn't include any info on where or how to schedule the medical.

Here's the instruction document/form

HI guys,

I guess you dont have send all the documents to the embassy. You only have to sign up that instruction paper and send them back as an indication that u have everything u need for the interview. You musnt send them ur documents. You carry the documents to the embsssy at the interview.

Then, u must ask for a doctor appointment. Are u sure there isnt any doctors name in those forms? Cause whenb i received the package, there was a list of doctoras at the American Clinic, so i asked for an interview there.

I dont know how it works in Santa Lucia, buty here in Lima -Peru, i called the embassy to be sure what to do, they told me it wasnt necesary to send back any paper, only to have all my dosuments ready, my visa afee and medical eamination for the interview date.

So, if u dont have any information about a doctor, call them and ask for that.

Good luck!

Correct. As for the "enclosures". They are telling you what they enclosed, not what you should enclose.

Thanks for the replies guys. If I had known, I would have expressed the form back to the embassy since I already have all the required documents except the police record which takes no more than 2 days. I did receive medical instructions but it did not include any addresses for doctors. From searching the forum, I found out that they only use one clinic in Barbados. I am guessing that I will be given the address together with the appointment letter since the clinic requires an appointment letter in order to conduct the medical.

Here is the medical instruction document.

You'd never believe what happened today.

I called the embassy to find out whether they had gotten my response to packet 3. Well, the lady on the phone told me that I needed to include the DS230 part 1 which was part of the package. I told her that I had not lived outside of St. Lucia for a period of more than six months. She insisted that the 6 month issue pertains to police records from other countries and not to the DS230.

The instructions from packet 3 states verbatim:

If you have resided in some other country for 6 months or more since your 16th birthday, fill out and sign the enclosed Form DS-230. RETURN THIS FORM TO THIS OFFICE AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. THEN PROCEED TO COLLECT THE FOLLOWING ITEMS.

Something must be seriously wrong somewhere!!!

Hi Mel and Daniel,

My answer covers the medical exam. Not sure if you have this info already.

The only clinic designated to do medical exams for visa applicants in Barbados is the Diagnostic Clinic in Beckles. If you google it you'll find the phone number.

Some info on the medical:

-The clinic doesn't do appointments. It's first come, first serve. That said, you must report to the clinic before 8:30 am. If you get there around 7am you'll be one of the first ones up. The test results are available the next business day and must be picked up by the applicant.

-You must bring your appointment letter, passport, 3 identical US type passport pictures and any vaccination records you might have just to speed up the exam. (This info is given in the interview packet.)

-No need to fast for the exam

-They take the following tests: blood, urine, chest x-ray. You'll have to disrobe.

The packet lists the fees. There are charges for any additional vaccines.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

When in doubt do what they tell you to do, even if it is an extra step.

From what I understand....Everyone has to fill out a DS-230 (Parts I and II). It's a main form used in all immigrant processing.

Thanks for the advice Nutty.

The packet only included part 1 of the DS-230. I've already sent it in. I am guessing that whomever typed up the instructions made a mistake and included that 6 month overseas clause with reference to the DS-230.

I expressed the DS-230 to the embassy so it should already be there by now. Hopefully, I'll get some good news when I call tomorrow...
