So according to Gary I am lazy cuz I dont have insurance (nevermind it's 90 days at my new job to kick in). And I haven't struggled so I'm not strong. :lol: But Gary is a top guy cuz he STRUGGLED & LIVED IN A CAR & now pays out of pocket for Luz. Hear him roar. What a saint.

PS: Someone paid taxes to educate your kids. So get off your high horse.

According to Charles I shoulda joined the military to get free health care. :lol::lol::lol:

I hear canada nice this time of year. :blush:

Ahh, a variation of the "if you don't like it, you can leave" nonsense. At least it was semi-creative.

I've said it before in threads like this, and I will say it again. It is a sad thing when the one thing that almost prevented me from moving here was the very real fear that because of my medical history I wouldn't be covered by any healthcare insurer. I still live quite fearfully that something will happen to our insurance. I heard a statistic the other day that upwards of 50% of bankruptcies (the number could even be higher) are directly due to medical bills. People shouldn't have to live this way! I have friends who are self-employed, with no insurance, who put off going to the doctor because of the fear of the financial cost. People shouldn't have to live this way! I have other friends whose insurance was just cancelled for no good reason, and whose daughter needs treatment for hip dysplasia and they can't get covered by SoonerCare. People shouldn't have to live this way!

Gary, I dunno, man. At your age, were you to lose your job, with an immigrant wife with a pre-existing health condition, you'd have a hard time getting insurance, if at all. Even if you took all your skills and started your own business.

Of course, at your age is about when things start to break down, so one heart attack and everyone would get to call you lazy and irresponsible by your reasoning.

:lol::whistle:

Not to mention I never complained about America itself, just the HC system. I'm well aware of the NHS & already have my NI number should we return to England. I find it is a system that works. But nevermind personal experience talking about it, I'll let the ones who have never used it continue to bash it & point out one bad case. Surely that's enough to fault an entire system that works in several countries? :whistle:

Instead of looking to the federal government to take this over, why not look to state governments? We've had this discussion about taxes; you know, if you don't wanna pay income or sales tax but you don't mind paying through the nose for your property tax, move to NH. So let's do it on a state-by-state level. If you want UHC, move to say, California. If you want nothing covered and you believe that damn it, if you get sick you should pay for it, move to Utah, perhaps.

Just a thought.

Make sure you're wearing clean knickers. You never know when you'll be run over by a bus.

Apparently, for some people (present company excluded, of course), that's all they need ;)

The one benefit to a UHS is that everyone is automatically in it. That means that all of the young twenty-somethings who are in good health and normally would skate by without insurance are in the risk pool, and if you understand how insurance works, that pretty much automatically translates to a lower cost.
Not when the government is running it. It will become bloated, convoluted and inefficient. In a short time no one will have quality care. If your goal is to have everyone covered equally then I guess that is what will happen. Everyone will be equally screwed.

Gary, I know you don't want to hear it but there isn't a single government anywhere in the world - including here in the US - that has managed to create a more bloated, convoluted, messy and inefficient health care system than that created by the private industry here in the US. Not one. Your assertion is based on what, exactly?

It's alright brother Dean, if it happens I will deal with it. I live what I preach and will take what comes. I have faith that my hard work and planning will carry me through the adversities of life but if the Lord decides to test me further then I will continue to live by my values and do what I have to do. I am called heartless and "not a nice person at all" because of my values but I don't care. I know that I am right and the castigation of others is just the last refuge of someone that has nothing else to offer.

In this thread you have done selective reading, selective answering, and you're on a high horse. Open your eyes & get out of your box Gary.
