Is there discrimination on VJ?

Hey guys, I am not really very happy about this. So is there discrimination on VJ or not or what? I don´t read all the threads that are on the front page cuz not all of them seem interesting to me. Personally I don´t care about threads that are being started cuz I believe each thread has it´s viewers cuz everybody is interested in different things. But this time I went to read this thread August filers with RFE that was started by zqt3344 which I thought was going to be fun to see even if I am not an August filer. But all I saw was moderators and older members sort of almost attacking zqt3344 for even daring to start the thread and they turned the thread into something ugly. Basically they scared people who were interested in it away from there and made them start other threads (like one person agreed). Then one of the moderators closed the thread. If you guys let zqt3344 alone in the first place, he wouldn´t have a reason to protect himself and say things to you. You accused him of clogging the front page with thread that was useless. Well maybe useless to you but if it was useless to everybody I don´t think other threads would be starting cuz of that.

So anyway. What I wanted to point out was...I take a look at the front page many times during the day. Many times it happens that there is very low activity on the forums and when I browse through the topics I don´t see any of the ones I am interested in. So I go find them myself.

So according to moderators it is not ok for a member to start a thread called August filers with RFE and they kill it but it is ok for a moderator to start a thread called Booze makes you clever like I noticed today? And for example Mags who on the August filers thread would go like: "Do you have a particular question regarding your RFE that you don't know the answer to? The reason I ask is that if you are starting a thread just for the sake of it it then clogs up the forum for people who DO have genuine questions and need help. Makes it harder for people to find those threads and post helpful advice.", on the Booze makes you clever she goes like this: "I´ll drink to that" and some drunken blurb. So does that have something to do with visas? Does that not clog the front page with information that are useless?

:no::no::no:

So now after I said all this will this thread be closed by older members and moderators? Sorry no offence to anybody. Just wanted to say this cuz the situation doesn´t make me very happy.

I just wanted to point out that the mods are usually concerned with unnecessary topics cluttering up the immigration forums. Like when you look here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showforum=80

You don't want to see a bunch of nonsense - people are trying to find information.

However, when you look here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showforum=16

you should see nonsense - because it's the off topic forum!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

The reason I posted what I did (which wasn't an attack in any way, merely a question) was because a member in that thread had implied they were going to start a thread for the sake of it, hence my "do you have a particular question regarding the RFE?" comment. As it happened they DID have a valid question, they started a thread and it was answered. No problem there at all.

I locked the initial thread because there were insults flying back and forth and it was going no where. ;)

Yes. And all these things are seen differently by everyone. What one person thinks is one thing, others do not see it that way. I don't agree with attacks on anyone; but I have read stuff and thought WTH? Is he/she completely crazy?

Different views and opinons on different subjects are healthy and normal. Some days I just wish we could discuss some things in a less agressive manner.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

So all you are saying is that off topic forums can clog the front page and visa topic forums can´t. Is that cuz this is a visa themed webpage?

having read the thread in question, i don't see what the big deal is about. if someone wants to compile that date and try to make sense of it, what's the harm?

You're confused. Each forum has its own front page.

If you're talking about the 'View New Posts' feature, then it has been suggested before that Off-topic threads not be included there. If that's something you'd like to see happen, then you need to bring it up with Captain Ewok.

We tried to discuss the very topic of monthly filer threads back in July.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/lofivers...php/t80445.html

I thought the consensus was that people liked them so we were going to leave things as is. Guess something has changed.
