See news article at http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/10/03/military....tion/index.html

Why is CNN making such a big deal about this guy? It's on their front page.

It seems like they're blowing it out of proportion.

Couldn;t he just file an AOS packet just like the rest of us here, wait the long process, and be done with it. As long as she's not a threat to our country they shuold not have any trouble being approved.

It doesn't state a word in the article what he has filed... maybe he hasn't filed anything at all and that's part of the problem!

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

A while back I sent emails to CNN urging them to put more focus on LEGAL immigration. Any spotlight on that topic I appreciate. This may be not exactly what I had in mind, but maybe CNN is one step closer to writing about our experiences?

Our Story:

Jan 2003 moved to Campeche, met Edgar three weeks later

K-1

Dec 2006 filed I-129f

July 12 WE FINALLY GOT MARRIED!!

AOS/EAD/AP:

July 2007 sent in AOS paperwork

Dec 6 CARD PRODUCTION ORDERED!

ROC:

Sept 5th 2009 Applied for Removal of Conditions

Sept 14th NOA I-797C

Oct 7th Biometrics Appt

Maybe he feels all the publicity will give her rights. lol.

All couples waitinig for their visas, screw the process, just call CNN and tell them your sad story!

Learn a bit about immigration - plus read the article - before you make assumptions.

The woman is a legal entrant to this country.

It appears the only 'illegal act' committed was not filing to adjust her status (based upon her marriage) soon enough.

It would be pointless to file for adjustment now as she has apparently already been issued an order for removal.

Don't know if anyone caught this but...her mother was granted legal status as a war refugee but...her daughter didn't wait the six weeks for that happen and got married. That is why her status is in question now. There is moral for us here....

We recently had a thread here where people freaked out about illegals entering Canada (as legal asylum petitioners) and another thread where people freaked out because someone made a joke about making a rule against posting pornographic stories without photographs. I wouldn't hold out hopes that people read beyond the titles of the post.

It looks like they were screwed up because they married while her mother petitioned for her, voiding that process. I wish the article were a little clearer, but it's just crazy that she has two legal paths to stay here but can't take advantage of either of them.

I don't think she did, no. Because they filed in 2000, four years before they married.

same here..so she probably thought all was well..

a sidebar..allot of miltary dependents..depend on the miltary for assistance and support..and i believe the miltary does a good job in most cases, except in immigration....where they offer little guidance

agreed. i'm not real sure just why the government can't just make a ruling in her favor.

I think that this is a sad case , I also feel that the Sailor may have felt that since he is active duty military he can magically marry his spouse

and her status will automatically become that of a LPR.

The petition still must field, maybe as a military service member he can apply for a fee waiver.

There needs to be some consideration for his situation especially if he faces being deployed again.
