After obsessively looking online to see if anything was up at CIS since receiving my EAD. Feeling tired of the cycle of logging in a nd being disappointed, I give up not too long ago. Then I finally got a notice in the mail yesterday! AOS interview is set in New York City for late November. Yipee!!!

Any advice anyone? I have basic gist of documents I need, but does anyone have any experience at the Federal Plaza office? Or any good Canadian experiences? Or any other advice from Canadians and/or non-Canadians alike? ;)

I have to say, the wait time has not been too bad overall. If all goes well, five months to conditional green card from application!!

Congratulations on your interview! I can't comment on the New York office, but you should be able to search on the timelines for others that had an interview there and see what their experience was. A lot from this group seem to have been transferred to CSC, which didn't entail an interview. There is no rhyme or reason who gets transferred or who gets interviewed so don't worry that because you got an interview, there is something worriesome about your case or anything.

I had my AOS interview in St. Louis. You can read my review, but basically it was short (15 minutes) and seemed to be just for the purpose of verifying information. The lady we dealt with was very nice, and professional. From when I mailed in my application to when I had my interview was exactly 4 months. I got my GC in the mail about a week later. I was also fortunate to get the stamp in my passport as well. I hadn't applied for AP, so I think that's why she gave it to me.

I sometimes wonder if Canadians don't have a better chance at most stages of this process, even if it's just that we speak a common language and have a similar culture. I guess the only time there might be more scrutiny or concern is the financial aspects of this journey. (i.e. affadavit of support)

congrats with the interview! Be as prepared as possible and it will be smooth sailing. I'm not sure if they give an easier-go for natural born Canadians but I like to think so in my head :innocent:

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Do you remember the exact day in June you sent off for the AOS?

Sorry for the delayed response. We had our second wedding (aka a very big party!) over the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend.

I sent in the AOS on about Jun 18th. It took awhile because I sent it to the wrong office (although it was where USCIS told me to send it!)

Thanks everyone for the congrats! I have been too busy to think about immigration with the wedding, but am now eager for this to be over. I try talking to non-immigres and they just don;t seem to understand the process. I end up feeling like I am a green card digging foreigner sometimes when I get too excited and start talking about it. Peopel end up saying, "You ARE marrying for love...aren;t you?" Of curse I am, but I am still wanting to live a normal life, too.

Needless to say, the support here is really great. Thank yoU!!
