Yay! Glad to hear it's finally coming to an end for you, Dawn. :)

As other have said in this thread, your SO's ex must be a really nasty, vindictive person to be demanding so much and delaying things for so long, considering they were only married for 3 years.

So basically she's just getting 50% of what 3 years' worth of pension would amount to, not 50% of the 20 years?

Yup. And it won't be very damn much at the end of the day. Hardly worth keeping her life and everybody elses on hold for so long.

But that's what bitchiness will get you.

Hallelujah - it's OVAH!!

I think she's actually getting 50% of his pension based on how this reads to me....I hope I am wrong tho

She agreed to 50% of the pension based on just the 3 yrs they were married plus the fcking $2,500 cash that MUST be paid over the next 5 months.

I don't really understand the whole military pension thing and what exactly she will be paid for the rest of her life for 3 yrs of marriage to a guy who has served for 20+ yrs.

Welshie....at least you can thank God it'll be over!

It isn't great...like I said I can't say I understand the pension thing....he says it will work out to $300 approx per month once he has retired..she will get this til the day she dies regardless of whether she marries a Texan oil baron...it is a fair amount of a pension...but he will just work now until they chuck him out and then he will find a government contract, suffice to say we won't be retiring anytime soon

But hell.......he seems happy and that's what is important...by the time he has to leave the UK this time I can leave with him as his wife.....as long as I get the visa!!!!........and that will be a whole different drama huh?!!

Anyway, he seems not ectastic about it but thinks it could of been worse....

So.....next week the decree will be entered and I guess we can finally be married after May...which is good...

Thanks for the PM's and support here...I have needed it today...y'all rock!

I don't understand a word you just said, but since you sound not-unhappy, I guess congrats are in order! :) Hope the immigration process goes smoothly, once you guys get started!

Well, Really Pleased for you that the divorce decree is on its way and that you can move on!!

But hell, that he has to give her that pension based on 3 years of marriage. I didnt think an Ex could claim any of a former spouse's pension unless they had been married for 10 years or more?! I know they cant claim anything based on your Social Security retirement unless you were married for over 10 years! My husband's ex will never get a penny from him/us and they were married almost 9 years. She's been causing us trouble recently and like to lie to herself that she's entitled to a whole load of stuff when she's not entitiled to squat!

However, the important thing is that it is over with now and you have your future to think about. Congratulations and celebrate being free of her now!! :D

Best wishes

Kate
