Hello, I bet someone has asked this question before and I am sorry if I am repeating a question. My husband (fiance at the time) had his medicals done in Ghana and was required to have all vaccinations, too. The health clinic would not give him a copy of I-693A, rather just gave him a vaccination card and said the I-693A form is in the sealed envelope, he brought with him to the US. When doing AOS, I have been told to get a copy of I-693A, if it was sent in the brown sealed envelope, why does he have to get it again or who has that stuff that was in the brown envelope, anyway? Would he probably get a RFE for not providing it for AOS? I have called civil surgeons in my area, to get a blood test done to prove he's had the vaccinations and they say it is against their license and they have to do the whole exam again. I am confused and he doesn't need to have the exam done again, but just to prove he had the vaccinations. Please give me some advice, we really want to send in this darn paper work and get it over with.

If you hubby had an immigration medical within a year he only needs the Supplemental 693. Some peeps call it I-693a.

VERY common for designated civil surgeons to try and hit you up for the full medical!

Keep calling.

Print this out and show it to a DCS.

FEDERAL REGISTER INTERIM REGULATIONS:

"C. Medical Examinations

According to 8 CFR 245.5, aliens seeking to adjust status are required to undergo a medical examination performed by a designated civil surgeon to determine whether they are inadmissible under section 212(a)(1)(A) of the Act. To date, applicants for K nonimmigrant visas have been required to obtain a medical examination abroad pursuant to Department of State regulations at 22 CFR 41.81 prior to entry, and the medical examination is not repeated if they apply for adjustment of status within 1 year of the date the examination was performed. They are, however, required to submit with the adjustment of status application a vaccination assessment completed by a designated civil surgeon in order to establish their compliance with the vaccination requirements under section 212(a)(1)(A)(ii) of the Act.

The Service will continue this same policy for the K-3/K-4 nonimmigrants. K-3/K-4 nonimmigrants who file their adjustment of status application within 1 year from the date of the medical examination overseas will not have to submit an additional medical examination. However, the Service notes that applicants whose medical examinations overseas revealed a “Class A” or “Class B” condition (as defined by 42 CFR 34.2( B ) ) must establish upon application for adjustment of status that they complied with those cond itions imposed on the initial admission. Failure to comply with those conditions means that a new medical examination will be required.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

You can go to a normal doctor to get the blood work done to show that he is immune or had the vaccines done (that they are already in his system). I had my normal primary care doctor do this, and she did the TB test, and 1 vaccine that my husband (fiance at the time) was missing. We took all the information from her, on her stationary and the lab results and took this to the civil surgeon. I can't remember exactly how much, but I think he charged us like $50 once we had all this done to fill out the I-693a form and stick it in a sealed envelope.

But once you have all the medical info, either blood work or vaccination records, you can save money & just mail them to the Dr in Texas that I believe someone above posted a link to. $10 and you have it all set. Local CS know you need only the I-693a, but want to push you for the full medical cause thats where they make the $$$ for their Mercedes Benz ;)
