Salam everybody here is Muhammad, i found this forum on google search engine when i was struggling to find beneficial answer for my question.

i got married to my wife march21/2007 in Alex Egypt then she filed i-130 which i dont knwo what it is at all lol.

anyways she got a receipt notification as i remember and after that she got the I.130 approval in sept/10/2007. she told me they would contact me through a phone call or by Mail but till now i have not got any phone call or received any Mail which geTing us nervous. waiting the visa process was not an issue for us that my wife used to come to me in Egypt every two months but since we had this terrible car accident she changed her mind and demanded that next time we meet it should be in USA,

Now there my Question actually they are questions

1-they contacting me after the I-130 approval is the real next step that i should wait?

2-if not so what is the nest step?

3-i wana any kindhearted couple out here type the timeline for this process please!!

finaly i wana say sorry for my unenlightenment

Alaikum salam ~

She should have a DS230 / CR1 visa app with DoS. Depending on when that gets approved ... done.

walaykum salam and welcome to vj!

1- once your wife got the approval the case is sent to the us embassy in cairo. They will send you out a packet 3 with some more fun forms to fill out. You will send all of that back and wait for them to send a packet 4 with your date and time of your interview. If you do not recieve the packet 3 then call or email the embassy and ask them if they've sent it out. You will need your approval number when you correspond with them so they'll know who you are.

2- see 1.

3- go to this link, if it works, and play around with the columns to see how long the wait is from your point on. http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/k1list...mp;op5=&cfl=

generally if NVC is done with their part and the cairo embassy has your case, here is a guestimate of what you're looking at :

NVC to Cairo = 1 week

Cairo sends out packet 3 = 2 weeks to 1 month

Cairo makes appt after receiving packet 3 = 1 week to 3 months (this depends on different things like how many lottery visas they have, etc.)

You get visa after interview = 1 week to 1 year (i know...i know......they're very unpredictable and the wait at this point just sucks lemons. :( )

Good luck!

app = application.

In my job - I use the word "app" to describe "applications". ^_^ It's a learned habit.

Question:

This "packet 3". Is this the visa application? Can the embassy be avoided with selection of agent?

I have no idea what you're talking about so maybe my daily hunger blurr has set in. You cannot avoid going through an embassy for a visa. Everyone has to have an interview before they are given their visa.

Packet 3 contains a few more forms that the beneficiary will need such as the 156 and 157 form. I forget what else is in there other than photograph requests but I'm sure someone will know. I think it's the request for the military papers along with the police record report, etc.

I don't know what "selection of agent" means either so I guess I"m lost. lol

Er, selection of agent or attorney. It's in the first *big* envelope that DoS sends you.

Selection of agent/attorney = DS-3032

( *scans over stuff....* )

Er ... nope. can't bypass it. I'm thinking the actual DS230/IV bill. nvm. :) Packets 3 & 4 come from the office of full of incompot... er ... um ... the US Embassy.

I just lost what I typed a sec ago so if a double post appears, sorry in advance.

If the approved I130 is just getting to the NVC, theres actually a few things that have to get worked out before the case moves anywhere. the choice of agent form, the I864 and the 230. I wouldn't expect Cairo to have this in any less than 6 months unless theres an already apporved k-3 not mentioned here. Hope this helps and Welcome to the OP.

Oh maybe you are talking about before they're done with NVC? We didn't do any of that choice of agent, etc. since we're on a K-3 so I had no clue what you were talking about.

So........if the OP isn't totally confused yet..............find out from your wife if she is done with the NVC portion of the journey and if it's already been sent to Cairo. That will clarify a lot for us so we can tell you what to do next. :)

If your going with a K-3 you still have to send in a I-129F and wait for that to get aproved. After that gets aproved it gets sent to Egypt. Then you have to wait for your packet. Im not sure what you and your wife are applying for? Maybe I didnt notice it or you just didint post it.

They're doing the CR1 so they will not have to file the I129F

would any one help me with the US embassy direct phone number to enquire for more information about my case and ask if packet 3 have been sentto me or not ...thank you guys

From what I understand, the embassy is no longer responding to case status inquiries over the phone. I haven't tried in a few months

Here's the embassy email: ConsularCairoIV@state.gov

They seem to check it about once a week.

يَايُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءامَنُوا اسْتَعِينُوا بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلَوةِ اِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الصَّبِرِينَ
