Today I had to part with my wedding rings to have repairs done to them (sodored and rodiumed) and it will be a week to 10 days before the repairs are done soooo ... my finger was bare and I knew that I would have occasional temporary heart failure everytime I noticed them missing and I came up with a great idea ...

I went to Claires in the mall and they had a great selection of rings to choose from .. they actually had a diamond ring and band that is very similar to my real ones for $7.95. I giggle everytime I look at them but it definitely makes me feel less "without".

Good idea. :) Not sure what I'd do either, the rings I wear are the ones my beloved late mother wore for years...there isn't a set like them anywhere. I suppose a plain band would do if I had to part with them for repairs. Glad you were able to find a substitute though. :)

When I had to part with my rings for a service I was realy uncomfortable too. I didn't substitute another but I do know your greif. Hopefully your store will be like mine in returning it to you polished. I keep my ring clean an I hadn't thought it was looked bad before bringing it in...but when I picked it up I just melted. It looked like new and was so nice. That totally made up for not having it for a few days.

I did the exact same thing!!! I also did it before while I was losing weight. I didn't want to have to keep resizing my ring so I wore a fake for a while. Some friends and I also did this when we went on a cruise. We didn't want to bring any expensive jewelry with us.

Good Idea!!

I am the opposite. I am not used to wearing rings anymore. I did when I was younger, but all my years of doing hair I didn't wear any.

I wear it when I go out.

the diamond in nessa's ring is numbered. check it before and after repairs, preferably at the same place doing the repairs. kinda puts them on notice that is is numbered and that you know about it

When my husband gave me my ring he also gave me a loop so that I could familiarize myself with an inclusion in the one carat stone which looks like a little spider. When I was giving my ring to the manager of the store I asked for my ring to be cleaned first and then asked him to borrow his loop. My husband and I both inspected the ring in front of the manager before we left them there for repair. I'm sure that stone swapping isn't that incredibly common but it's always better safe than sorry.
