soch,

In Germany - the police certification covers any city lived in, no matter from when/where (Germany only of course, if you/the German Citizen lived in any other country, he/she will need to follow that country's 'rules') - they come from Berlin. So, all you need is the one, to cover all of Germany...

If he lived in any other country besides Germany after he turned 16 (for example to study or work), yes, then he will need a police certificate from that country. And better apply for those early - a friend of mine spent time in Canada studying and had to wait quite a bit till they finally sent it to her.

If he spent a year travelling for example, without giving up his German residency, then the German police certificate will be the only one he needs.

If your question refers to a couple of different places he lived within Germany - the German state issues one certificate that's valid for all places a person lived within the country.

Good Luck  looks like (from your timeline) things should start picking up quickly soon..

He should order this certification soon (if hasn't already) - it can take several weeks, depending on what city he's ordering it from - so you have it within plenty of time for the interview...

He did order it already... a police record... from Dortmund. Only took 1 or 2 weeks. He did it a while ago and I am not sure how long its good for.

But he lived in Aachen before then that is why i thought he might have to get one from there too.

soch,

Should be good for 6 months (not that they expire) - we ordered another one just before leaving - just in case we needed it for AOS (which it appears we don't) but oh well..
