I called Dr. Seiden's office a couple of weeks ago and asked what I needed to set up the medical appointment. They said just the case number. So, I called back today with the case number. She asked which visa we were applying for. I told her. She got dh's info and asked if she could call me back. She called back about 2 minutes later and said that they can't do the medical until we get the interview date. She said she just called Immigration and they told her not to do the medical yet, until the date is set.

What is up with that?? I thought some of you were able to get your medical before your appt. was set. I know it's no rush and we have time. I just figured it was one more thing we could get out of the way.

I phoned the NVC twice in the last week and was somewhat concerned in the manner in which the resulting telephone conversations progressed. The operators were nice, polite and very understanding. I am starting to wonder if the niceties are a result of something that many of us have started to suspect - a Juarez-like wait for interviews. I hope this is just a case of decency and civility slowly permeating the system but I fear the worst.

Just read this thread and I'm thinking....this lady at the doctor's office called "immigration???

What the heck number did she call where she gets through and can call you back in 2 min. to say..." immigration says you have to wait until you have an interview date?"

Just seemed weird to me.

LOL. She probably talked to a more experienced co-worker or supervisor.... not immigration.

I went to Medisys, Toronto...there was some confusion with my kids' medicals...they didn't have their interview letter but they had an interview date. (When I booked the appts. I confirmed with Medisys that they would do them w/o the letter.) The receptionist call MTL on a DIRECT LINE to confirm the kids could be done. And now I remember, our case was complicated so MTL asked to speak to me to clarify details and then they confirmed with the receptionist to go ahead with the medicals.

Wow, that's amazing eh? A doctor's office performing medicals can get a direct number to the Consulate, and yet we're waiting ages for updates to web sites, no replies from emails sent and recorded voice messages on telephone lines!

Daisy, call back and tell them you have a checklist stating that you need to schedule your medical. It says that on the checklist since you're DCF doesn't it? I can sort of understand waiting for packet 4 for those going through the NVC (since they don't get a packet 3) but as a DCF you do have packet 3.
