Hi-

I am trying to fill out the affidavit for my fiance so I can send it ASAP. My question is are the following considered as cash surrender assets: car, engagement ring, computer. There is also a section for a cash surrender value of life insurance. How do I figure out what the cash surrender value is? Also, I have some bonds I received from my grandfather, and they don't mature for another 2-5 years. Can I still list these on the affidavit, since I can cash them whenever I want to? Thanks in advance!

If your income is sufficient, you can skip the whole asset section.

No, none of the assets you mention should be listed except the bonds. They actually have a value now. Ok, I suppose if you own an expensive car outright and are willing to sell it if need be, maybe. If you want to know the cash surrender value of a life insurance policy, call the insurance company. If it's term insurance, it has no surrender value.

It looks like my income will be $20,000 then with a bit in savings, about $2300. I'm just worried it won't be enough, because I use my checking account to pay all my bills and loans, therefore no money in the account! Thanks for your help! That clears up a lot!

If it's just the two of you, the income is enough. I would just skip the whole asset section. Remember to use your gross income.
