I believe that comes from the word "можно" and usualy comes in a question. It means "can I" or "may I" etc...

P.S. keep them words comming :)

That mean something like "well...", "anyway...", "all in all".

For quick and dirty translations, translate.google.com is your friend. It's far from perfect, and I definitely wouldn't use it in correspondence, but it's magnitudes better than anything else out there I've found, including Babelfish.

I've got an English/Russian-Russian/English dictionary that comes in really handy. You can pick them up at any bookstore.

Another variation on the same word is "Мона."

For example: "Мона позвонить?" - May I call?

My guess - a form of "может" (may, maybe).

"Вообщем" is an illiterate mixture of "вообще" (as a matter of fact) and "в общем" (in general).

Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensedregistered pharmacist". (because somebody gives a damn)

When writing letters I have found that Google Translation is very helpful. I write in English, translate to Russian, then back to English. I then clean up anything that did not survive the trip and try it again. Simple sentences produce the best results. "I go to store. I buy pants." is better than "I am going to the store to buy some pants." All in all it has worked very well. What my SO and myself fail at in conversation we can get through using this translation method.

This relates closely to the thread about Embassy interviews and communicating with your SO. If You Need A Translator To Talk To Your SO

Unless you speak or read Russian, google will not help you with these kind of words. And, your translation is incorrect.
