Hi all,

For some reason I can't locate my original birth certificate right now. A certified duplicate copy is just as good right? It's simply an official copy. I can get one within the week from my state congressman's office. Actually, I'll probley get at least two, one to copy and send in (keeping the original), and one to send to my fiance when we're shifted to the consolate.

Also, I was reading one of my fiance's posts. He asked about his citizenship, he has both UK and New Zealand but he lives in the UK. On the 129F petition under his citizenship, I wrote UK/New Zealand. Should I write both or only UK since he's living in England now?

Thanks in advance, Megan

Yes, a certified copy of your BC is fine. You just need to send a photocopy with the submission, though. Not the original.

The petition requires you to list all countries to which the beneficiary holds citizenship. So, yes, you need to enter both the UK and NZ.

Thank you so much. I had a bit of a panic moment last night when I couldn't find my original birth cert. :-)

Glad to know a certified copy is just as good.

Thanks, Megan
