Are there interviews scheduled in Montreal before 9am? I think I read somewhere, that someone had a 7:45am interview time, can't remember where it was though. Just wondering if I should still try and line up as early as I can for my 9am one. (as in 7am?)

The doors to the consulate dont open til around 0745, elevator around 8, and the kiosk window sometime after 8sometimes closer to 0830. Its pretty much first come, first served. So if ur interview letter states 0900, ur fine to show up when the consulate opens.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Ohhh! Why do people say to be there at 7 a.m. then? LOL Might be better for me just to arrive at 7:45 then...that way I'd be more comfortable asking my friend if she could take the metro with me... haha

I was thinking I'd be leaving around 6:30 a.m.! lol

Montreal doesn't give priority to K or CR/IR interviews over other visas (like B2s, etc.) in the line up. You want to be the first one in to get to the BACK of the elevator so that you'll get a numbered ticket before everyone else. That way you'll actually be interviewed first and out the door sooner. :)

Some just get there super early to be 1st in line to get in the door!! 1st u go through security (including x ray machine) then u wait some more in waiting room for the elevator. So you dont really have to be 1st through security to be the 1st inline at the wicket window!! Just be the 1st one in the elevator and goto the REAR, as thats where the door opens from!!

Also, a litle off topic, but is it true there are vending machines inside the consulate? I know you can't bring food in with you, but depending on how long I'm there, I might need a snack as I'm a diabetic.
