Police Clearance from Mumbai Passport Office

All those who have applied for a Police Clearance from Mumbai Passport Office - when Mumbai Passport Office provide you the PCC, do they give you a letter/document or do they stamp the PCC on your passport?

Hope Mumbai people answer, but in Andhra (Visakhapatnam) we got both, a PCC letter and stamp in passport. Maybe it is the same everywhere.

Hi

I got my PCC from Mumbai passport office. You get a letter.... and a duplicate copy of that letter... which is called PCC. And also the passport is stamped that PCC issued on this date with seal of pssport office. It takes them 7 working days to issue the PCC. You have to submit MISC form No.2 fill it; attach with the documents... PLEASE MENTION CLEARLY FOR WHICH COUNTRY YOU WANT PCC. You have to submit your original passport too which comes in mail with the PCC. I hope this helps. The Fee for obataining PCC is 300 Rs. which you have to pay cash. The Passport offices are open only on weekdays from 10 am to 12 noon. So you have to rush to the office at 8 am ... if you want to get your work done as soon as office opens.

The validity of PCC is of 6 months from date of issue.

Yes, you get a letter and it is also stamped on the passport. It should be a 3 day process if you pick up the passport yourself, but as with any bureaucracy, you want to give yourself enough time for delays if any. You do not need an agent, just fill up form 2.
