Update on my new life

Hi

Thought I'd update you on what I've done since I've been here. I've applied for my SSN, that was nice and easy to do, no waiting and the woman was very informative on what would happen as I'd applied before I was in the system.

Today we went and got our marriage licence which was even easier! She didn't ask for any ID from either of us, told me to put "none" for my SSN and that we'd have our licence by the end of the week. Something I wasn't expecting and I don't know if this is the same in each state, she took my decree absolute and kept it, it goes on my file. However when we're married, after about a week I can request a "Triple Seal" which is basically an official record of my marriages and divorce (makes it sound like there's a few!). She said she was aware this was needed for the visa process and it only costs $14.

Wedding plans are coming along, I found a dress today and will pick it up tomorrow, the place is booked and the licence is coming, so if nothing else, I'll be there! Invites still haven't gone out yet and food and flowers have to be ordered... oh and rings... and probably 20 other things too!

At the weekend I got a kitten! I had to leave mine behind :( but this one is so cute it helps. She's making friends with our black lab who thinks she has a new play thing!

Updates will follow as things progress. What am I doing on here? I have a man snuggled up in bed waiting for me!

Helen
