What happened to common courtesy?

I mailed my I-129F on 9/4 (CSC). End of the month now. No NOA1, check not cashed. Don't we deserve an acknlowledgement of receipt that they got our petetions? After all, we are paying tax to support them, not to mention we are paying for their service. As a tax-payer and paying customer, do we deserve a little respect and courtesy? I have to vent a little. I'm getting frustrated and upset being treated like a dog.

Hang on bro. You are just getting a taste of what's in for you in the near future.

Forget the "customer" being right and getting any respect. Tain't so!

I'm immensely sympathetic to the wait time you've had; I would hate that if it were me

but 'common courtesy' just isn't possible if they physically don't have the person-power to process all the mail at present... they have at least put a Q & A on their website, explaining why, which to me IS common courtesy :)

please see this thread for the details

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

But!

So far, No one can explain why a person that filed (example: May 25  ) has not received NOA2 yet. BUT, another that filed May 31 does have NOA2.

This is not courtesy! If USCIS approves in the order of which received. As they do say.

This is a straight-up lie!

I know this has been mentioned before.

But I just wanted to vent my thoughts somewhere. :P

actually, that's easy to explain... the promise is that they process the petitions in the order in which they were received, not approve them... think about it for a moment: if they were to APPROVE them in order, one RFE or hiccup with someone from February (or earlier) and the whole process grinds to a halt; everyone after that person would have to wait til the problems were sorted out before they could get their approval... plus think of the extra admin required just to keep them all in order! no, what they promise is that they will start processing petitions in order, and as far as can be seen, they do this

differences in approval dates come down to all manner of things: one gets an RFE; one needs an extra background check; one has lived in five different countries and looking at all the police reports takes extra time; one has lots of translated documents which need extra scrutiny; who knows...

of course, there's probably some small variation... I can imagine someone going into the mail room, and picking up a stack of ten, with petitions say from May 23... that person goes back to their desk and puts those ten down, and starts working through them in order

the next adjudicator might go in half an hour later, and also get a stack of ten, maybe from May 24... but of course when s/he starts working, his/her first one will be later than the one at the bottom of the first adjudicator's pile, which might have to wait an extra day or two ;)

(mind you this is just me imagining; I have no idea if it happens this way or not ;) )

in any case, it's NOT a 'straight-up lie', you just misread/misunderstood what their promise means :)

Not just that but imagine the tons of petitions they receive - if they have a big box of petitions from around the end of June or May or whenever, chances are they aren't in perfect date/time order to the minutes and seconds they received them. I expect they try to start processing them in the order they are received as accurately as they can but when you are dealing with thousands of petitions - well putting them all into perfect chronological order would surely only slow things up :)

very good point Jeraly

and yes, jasman, they are, but I don't know that that's directly relevant to YanJeff's point, which I was addressing, about the order - that would apply whether they had ten petitions, or ten thousand; it's a question of process :)

Yes, it's called a NOA1. If you don't get one, they didn't get your stuff. Even better is the accepted practice of sending the I-129f package in via Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation or Certified. Then you at least know that they have it, even if they don't. Knowing if they received it is your responsibility, not theirs.

After all, we are paying tax to support them, not to mention we are paying for their service. As a tax-payer and paying customer, do we deserve a little respect and courtesy? I have to vent a little. I'm getting frustrated and upset being treated like a dog.

I'm not quite sure where you're getting this feeling from. Do you think that they honestly have it in for you? Do you think they are all sitting around playing computer games (or posting on forums from work? *cough-cough*) rather than processing your application? How is there no respect or courtesy? How are you being treated like a dog? All of my dogs were fed and watered, brushed, petted, played with, and generally adored.

Yes, you are paying for their service. If you are dissatisfied with their service, maybe you should take your business to their competitor.... oh, wait......

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Courtesy? Government? Those two don't make good bed partners!

We are all in the same big boat, sailing on a long cruise. Just because they are supported by our tax dollars does not equate terrific customer service. They have us where they want us. It's like trying to argue with a police officer you pay his salary, therefore, you don't deserve that ticket. Just go with the flow. We'll all get there one day! You just have to be super patient.

Chances are they haven't even opened it yet. You can't send an acknowledgment to someone when you haven't even had the chance to open the application. ;)

There was a HUGE increase in petitions being sent in before the price increase so they are a little jammed up at the moment. Members of VJ have been posting about this all over the forum so you are not alone. :)

I remember back in March 2006 when I submiited the I-129f. That's when IMBRA went into effect. nothing seemed to be happening till June. When petitions were starting to be approved, CSC seemed to be moving at a snail's pace, while some were zipping thru VSC.

I learned just have to be patient, otherwise the process would have driven me crazy. it can be a long process, but you'll get thru it. ;)

Gee. Do you ever ackowledge receipt of mail Playplus? If you don't, you should. It is your responsibility, not the sender's, to show that courtesy.

After all, we are paying tax to support them, not to mention we are paying for their service. As a tax-payer and paying customer, do we deserve a little respect and courtesy? I have to vent a little. I'm getting frustrated and upset being treated like a dog.

Yes, you are paying for their service. If you are dissatisfied with their service, maybe you should take your business to their competitor.... oh, wait......

If you don't think you have the right to be treated with respect, it's your business. Don't tell other people they don't have that right. Sure they are the only business in town, but that does not make it right for them not to tell people they have received their packages. Anyway, do you work for INS? If not, how do you know what they are doing there?[/color]
