I had my naturalization interview 2 weeks ago, everything went ok (or so I think), passed all question, got letter with "congratulations" mark after the interview. An officer didn`t like that I haven`t been employed for a year now, but I am not receiving any government help or such, still, she was kind of suspicious on how do I support myself. She wrote something long under employment section. Could it be a problem for approval?

I still haven`t received a letter about the oath ceremony, have to make a trip...Aproximately how long in advance do they send the oath letter?

Hello! Can you please share your experience with us? What questions did she ask during the interview (besides standard history and other questions)? Was your interview friendly? Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well you can get a letter anywhere from a few weeks to 6 months or even more. Some people have waited over a year to get their letter. Though anything 6 months or more they suggest you make a Infopass apt. to just see why it's taking so long.

Many areas only have oath ceremonies a few times a year, so you might be in one of those areas where you have to wait months for it. So they might not send out the letter till closer to the date etc.

Now with the job thing, you were on a Green Card I assume, so either way, employment should have no bearing on your citizenship at all unless the INS is deeming and thinking you are working at an illegal job (selling drugs, prosititution, getting paid under the table and not paying taxes, etc) that would go against your moral character. As for just not having a job and having money in the bank you would be fine, but I'm just thinking that's what they're wondering if you are somehow working on the black market...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

Oh, ok, I have explained her that I don`t work right now for medical reasons (bad back), but if they want to check my tax returns for all years I`ve been in the country, I paid them in full.

Just wondered what USCIS gives a person for evidence of naturalization? Just a letter or what?

Does one have to submit a N-600 or apply for a passport to have evidence of USC?

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!
