I live in England and have just got engaged and my fiance wants to file the forms. I just wondered how long it will take for the whole process to be over. Also are there any other forms apart from the I-129F and the G-325a forms that need to be signed. Also is it an easy process or can there be any problems with it.

It is mostly pretty easy but slow. It is taking around 7-8 months from filing for the UK petitioners at the moment but hold-ups can occur at any time through the process that may make the wait longer. Read the guides as they are pretty helpful in listing exactly what you need to include for your petition and even provide sample forms filled out. You should also read the 'RFE - referral for evidence' thread which is stickied at the top of one of the K1 forums to find out what other people have had problems with.

Take a look at the immigration timelines at the top of the page. It will show what others have experienced at both the service center and the embassy. Good luck

I went through London last year and it took me around 7 months in total. London is one of the better consulates to go through and, as a rule, they tend to be one of the quicker ones.

There are exceptions, of course, but generally they're pretty good.

Can you chose which Consulate to go through or do they chose for you. Also can anyone give us advice about filling in the forms because both of us are really confused by them.

I don't think you are allowed to choose your consulate. There are example forms in the Guides section that will show you how to fill out the forms. Read through those, it will help immensely. :)

Also can I use the baggage labels as I can't find the boarding passes for when I went in February. I have my passport stamped but it wasn't for Chicago in September as I went via Atlanta so would that be OK.

Baggage labels might not work...if you're referring to the long sticky thing they place around the handle. It does have the flight number, but it may not have the destination and/or date. Don't you have stamps in your passport to show you were in your fiancé's country?

I do but I just thought it would be something extra. I looked on them and it has the dates and the destination just not the year.

Took me 5 months going through California Service Center. The normal timeline would be between 6-8 months.

I would also advice you to check out the guides here on VJ for your I129F package: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...amp;page=guides

Without a year the baggage labels will be useless.

First read the guides, they are truely helpful, second no one can give you an exact timeline, or even an estimated, its all determined on the backlog of the service center, and what your case is like. everyones case is different. good luck

I would include them anyway. Even if there's no year, the fact that it has a month and day that matches up to the itinerary is at least somewhat compelling. You just never know what the "tipping point" evidence might be if the adjudicator is sitting on the fence, and including the labels certainly won't hurt. I would include them, but I wouldn't rely on them.
