Hi, I hve gone through couple of forums and couldnt find accurate answer....here is my problem

I am on H1B visa which has already expired on August 31st....my I 94 has also became invalid...my employer has filed my renewal but has not received the receipt number yet

Now i I want to travel from Dallas to North Carolina...but I do not have anything except my passport as a photo ID... I dont have Driving lincense or State Id...So if I show my passport as photo ID at ariport...can they get me in trouble since my visa/I94 has already expired?

Please help... I am really confused and dont understand wht to do in this case...would appreciate ur comments

Its a ####### shoot but with the way things are, you could have some problems. I would recommend staying put until your employer can get things worked out.

My husband just traveled within the US on an expired I-94, he had no problems at all. Currently he is awaiting AOS and has only received NOA1.

At the airport they just looked at his passport for identification purposes, not really interested at all in his status...

I don't think you will have any problems..

hope this helps!

My take is that the airline employees or the ID checkers at the airport are not concerned about immigration issues and probably do not even know what to look for... They are trained to look at the ID page of a passport and to recognize that the passport is still valid and the photo is a resonable representation of you...

YMMV
