NVC ... Q&A Part 1

hello all ...I know there is enough information on NVC process, i just have few basic question about the initial process.

Any veteran gone through this process , or someone who is going through pls reply.

My I 130 was approved on Sept 21 and notice said it is sent to NVC

1. How will I know when the case number is assigned, do i get a hard copy from NVC or some other way?

2 Will I get the Choice of Agent form with my case number assignment or that is generated after the case number ?

3 I know that 2 Choice of Agent form are sent, one for me and one for my wife, she can send her form appointing me as COA, but do i need to send mine appointing myself , or my copy is only for informational puproses.

More once i get this far

When you call the automated message (603) 334-0700, it will give you a date when a case is assigned. Get your pen and paper handy, when you do call. Call them on Tuesday morning.

2 Will I get the Choice of Agent form with my case number assignment or that is generated after the case number ?

If you wait for NVC to send you the hard copy, the barcode or case # is already on the form itself. If you follow James Shortcuts v2, you can generate your own barcode to place on the form itself.

Your wife (beneficiary) can send hers appointing you as her agent. Yours is for informational purposes.

Thanks Rina, guess what , called them today evening and already had my case number assigned. NOA2 approved on Sept 21 and NVC Case number assigned on Sept 27.

I am guessing that if i call them every day, then one day ill hear the message that they have generated my Choice of agent form, is that correct ?

Also did you wait for them to send the form or did you print your own and use the barcode to send it, some people have also sent emails.

The NVC updates the recordings on Tuesday mornings so there is no need to call everyday {although it can be hard to restrain yourself }

I used James' Shortcuts to send in the DS3032 and AOS fee bill and I had no problem. Just make sure you don't send them in until the recording has said they have been generated. If you follow the instructions, you should have no problems. I have read in several posts that emailing has been taking about 2 weeks.
