Knowing very well that no one thinks they will be denied what would you do if you were.

I myself couldn't bring myself to call my fiancée, first of all I was definitely in shock and not thinking straight didn't want to give her the bad news, she called me while I was on my way home on the bus from Montreal, she knew it was bad news because I didn't call and it was almost 5 hours after the scheduled interview.

I know that everyone goes to Montreal hoping that everything does well but have you prepared for news other than that you are wanting. I think it is very important to be ready for anything that could happen, thanking the person that gives you the visa is fine when you get it, but what do you do or say if told that you have been denied, I think that it is crucial that everyone be just as prepared with questions regarding bad news as they are with the documentation they are presenting to the interviewer.

it is very hard no matter what location you are in, i was talking to a girl getting ready to file and tried to explain Casa is very hard to go thru, her reply was well we have a good relationship and we can prove it. I said thats all good but remember so did all the rest of us that got denied, she said she would not let herself think otherwise, these are the ones that really get hurt and let down when it happens. Unfortunately you do need to think on both possibilities......

Ron, I'm very sorry to hear about your denial. I hope you will be able to figure something out one way or the other....

We certainly would not have been prepared had we been denied in any stage of the journey. Whenever I was trying to discuss some sort of "plan B" with my husband (the USC), he got quite impatient with me and at no point during the visa journey did he doubt I would get the visa. We didn't have any red flags or problems, but I still felt like they could deny me out of the blue... He considered this to be a lack of confidence in HIM personally as to where is "ability" to get me into the US was concerned! (I'm still trying to figure the guy out!)

Oh well, all turned out fine for us but I think you are absolutely right, everybody should have a plan B, even if it's only for peace of mind!

Good luck to you!

Getting denied was something I thought about often. I would often get myself in a tizzy thinking about it. I worried about a lot of things- it is hard not to when you are going through this process.

If I had been denied- I would have had to end the marriage and move on. Mel has a young son he shares custody with and there is no way he would move to Canada or anywhere else. I would never have even asked him to.

sanita got a 221 g with a recommendation to return her visa to america for denial.....

it was a cultural issue for her and she refused to answer certain questions..stating my past was done of her business etc..

i was able to fix the issue in less than a week..it was a miracle....

i remember, her call to me and telling me about the interview and the stress and sadness that was overwhelming afterwards...

I thought about a plan B but I never really thought I'd be denied, as my case was very straighforward, I had plenty of evidence, and only good reviews about my consulate. Only once when preparing the affidavit did I think something could go wrong since hubby wasn't even out of college yet and just working a part-time, but then we had a strong affidavit from our co-sponsor and we sailed through the process (appart from the long dark pause that was IMBRA when it came into effect and all cases were stopped).

This is something I think about often and it is paralyzing me sometimes - our case has a lot of red flags and I am trying my best to produce as much evidence as I can but there is no denying the facts, we have talked about what might happen and since jobs are very hard to come by in Nepal for either one of us and the political situation is unstable at the moment we have thought about maybe going to a third country where both of us could work. I am praying it won't come to that...

My idea is that before going to the interview be armed with possible questions in case of a denial or at least be ready mentally because once you leave there is no second opinion to be had.

On a personal level if I had had my mind together after hearing visa denied I would have asked for a second opinion right there and then but being unprepared for the denial I just took everything given to me and when asked if I had any questions I said no since my mind was by then a total blank, what I did say was that F--- the States I'll bring her here, that got a wide eyed dropped jaw look as I turned and walked out. Had I been prepared things would have been different, maybe not the out come but at least I would have been asking a few question and not made the comment I have.

you cannot be denied by a CO....they can recommend the visa be return to the states for denial..they would provide a reason and you have a very short time to try and prevent the mailing..once sent , then it is in the states..and you can use legal...poliitcal, etc...

I would check the canada forum and seee if there is a group for denials. I know we have one for middle east. You need to do what you can to keep your file in Canada. Once it is returned, it can be up to a year to get the USCIS to reaffirm your case and get another interview. At least being in Canada you can see each other in the meantime. Most of us in the middle east only get to see our fiances once before the interview. I'm shocked that you got denied.

Almost exactly what I thought. I loved visiting Jamaica; but to live there would've been really hard. I have kids here and I don't trust the school system or even value system there as far as my children would be concerned. Jobs are hard to come by for natives and nearly impossible for foreigners. The political situation and everyday violence is nearly overwhelming to me.

I always said I would move to be with him in a heartbeat. However, in reality, I am pretty sure we would've crashed and burned eventually.

Thank God it never came to having to make those decisions. I pray all of you will either never face that situation or will figure out a way for you and your SO to make it work.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

I'm going to have to prep my girl slowly and carefully. I'm considering going over for the interview when the time comes. Our case is also straightforward, but I have considered getting a denial.

If that happens I want to know exactly what basis are they making the denial and fight it.

Our situation is pretty straightforward. First marriage, no kids, no criminal records, true relationship, several visits, no matchmakers or pre-set meetings, etc.

The only real way I see a denial is if my fiancee is hiding something important/critical or chokes at the interview to a major degree or she fails to bring enough evidence or preps.

I wonder why the OP was denied.
