Hello All :help:

So we have our AOS interview next month, which is great but a bit nervouse about the whole thing. Firstly, I don't have my 2004 & 2005 tax returns due not making enough in 2004 and being abroad in Turkey and working under the table in 2005. I ordered tax transcripts for both years but they only state that I didn't file. I do have a co-sponser which made more than the poverty line so hope this compensate my deficiency. Secondly, my husband arrived on a K3 which means that he completed a medical exam in Turkey, however, the interview notice states that we need to bring "A completed medical examination (I-693) and vaccination supplement in a sealed evelope (unless already submitted)". Should we hope that his medical exam was in the sealed envelope he handed to the IO at the POE and just get a vaccination supplement?? We have an appointment with a civil surgeon and my husband does have a vaccination record he was given at the American hospital in Turkey. Lastly, his birth certificate and our marriage certificate are translated because they are "international" there is a code, anyone from Turkey outthere? Anyhoo, the question is should we spend the money we don't have to get them translated by someone here in California?

Ok folks, sorry for so many questions but I've come to realize that people on this board know more than the customer services reps at UCSIS  So thanks in advance for any replies and advice that I may recieve....May everyone have a nice visa journey or at least try and forget our worries for a couple of hours. :help:

Hello! Good luck with your interview, usually it is an easy and straight forward thing.

About tax returns, I was living in India for 21 years not earning any money, so I did not file all that time either. I only filed 2006 when I returned to USA. I added an explanation letter and a copy of the IRS online statements about who needs to file (showing that if we earn under a certain amount, we don't need to file). No one ever asked me about this, but I would suggest (mostly for your own peace of mind) that you write an explanation letter too, why you didn't file tax returns, and jsut bring it with you to the interview, along with the below printout.

Next about the medical exam: you don't need to do the I-693, because your husband had the medical done in Turkey. They have all your records you gave at POE. Just bring the vaccination supplement from the civil surgeon. That's what we did and all was fine.

About the birth certificate, you said they were translated in Turkey, right? Into English? If so, there is no need to get it translated again here in CA. If there is no translation, then it can be translated here or even by someone in Turkey.

Again, good luck with the interview! (F)

Regarding the sealed envelope, don't worry. my husband is from jordan and we counted on his medical being forwarded and it was. We did not go to a civil surgeon. We used what he was given from his medical in jordan. Good luck next month :)

Hi thanks for the reply.....I have one more question and would appreciate any response. Because my husband hasn't recieved his EAD, he can't apply for SS#. Which means I can't add him to my checking account or our rental lease. We have plenty of photos, our marriages certificate, etc to show that we are a legitimate couple should we be worried about this.

Thanks again

I was added to my husband's checking account without a SS# a few months ago. The bank got me to fill out a W-8 form, took a copy of my passport/visa with I-94. I received a debit card within 10 days. Check with your bank, i'm sure they will add your husband, most banks will tell you its not their policy to add people to accounts without ssn's but that's not the case.

Separated!!
