Who is more worth your time? The citizen who hides several million in a tax shelter or the illegal immigrant who is slaving away at minimum wage? Lets add this too, it will cost you $10,000 to audit and prosecute the person to recover the money.

They are both worth our time. Crime is crime. You don't let people get away with committing crimes just because it's not it the governments best financial interest to solve or prevent them.

Tax evasion is not the same kind of crime as any violent offense. It also costs money to basically recover money. If the negative cost of recovery + the amount recovered is not overall positive, its not worth the governments time to try to recover the money. Cost of not paying is a loss yes, but the cost of recovery can be a much bigger loss.

If a US citizen Evades paying taxes not only are they fined, made to pay penalties, interest they are also more than likely to serve time in prison.

If a USA citizen goes to guatamala and resides there illegally and tries to work illegally you can bet that individual would be paying seriously for it.

Why are some so agaisnt USA enforcing it's own federal laws and immigration laws.
