I live in a smaller town of about 85,000. I drive to work and it takes me about 5 minutes. I don't even have to get on the freeway! Hicham walks about 4 or 5 blocks to get to work. I always told myself I could never live in LA or San Diego or anywhere where the traffic is terrible and the commute is more than 30 minutes.

I live in a pretty small city and commute about 45 min to an hour to work in another city and drop my daughter off to school in a third city. They are all officially, legally cities, but they are probably the size of a township, not really a city like NYC. Now, I lived in NYC and commuted by train an hour from Queens to Brooklyn to work. So maybe I'm more willing to commute than others here where I live now, who make their life fit in the town more than I do.

I drive about 40 min to work right now... we live in a very rural area, and i work in a medium city... my husband drives about 40 minutes also... But we are moving to the town where he works (which is closer to my work) pretty soon since we aren't liking how much we spend on gas and car repairs right now...

I live about 8-10 miles from work, and it takes 10 minute walk + 20 minutes in bus meaning in total about one hour as the bus I have to catch leaves earlier (but I can have a breakfast at work so no biggie for arriving 15 minutes early, as the next alternative arrives 15-20 minute late when on normal shift). Practically one hour there and one hour back ...

Albuquerque is a medium-sized city and we live on the outskirts, it takes about 20 minutes to get downtown during morning rush, 25 minutes to get back, and only 15 minutes each way to go home at lunch.

We carpool together, we only have one car and work near each other.

my friend told me that people outside of big cities do not commute...is it true?

I live in a very small town, my neighbors are a hay field, a tree farm, and two old sisters-- way downt he street there's a few houses too.

I commute to a small city, and depending on how many slow school buses I get stuck behind it takes me 35 minutes to an hour to get to work. I put like 25K miles on my car in a year just driving to work and back.

I work downtown and it takes me about 15 minutes to walk to my office. I live in a medium size city (660.000 at night, 1.5 m during the day when the commuters come in). Rent here is so high, that people can't really afford to live in the city.

I really enjoy the walk in the mornings and evenings, some fresh air is good and gets me going for the work day and relaxes me at night. :D
