I commute 25 minutes each way to work - it's not too bad. The best part is that I car pool and there are three of us - so I don't drive too much OR pay a lot for gas  .

We live in Florida and public transportation SUCKS where I live, everything is spread out, and it's too damn hot in the summer - we have to have cars.

My husband has a bad commute of 45 minutes - but he likes his job (he's the non-USC). I'm a teacher so we decided when the school year is over in June we'll move closer to his work (where if he weren't to stay he'd still have many opportunities) and I'll work at another school - no problem for me.

I live in a very rural area in a town of about 6,000 people. I live on one end of town and I work on the other and it takes me about 10 minutes to get there. I wish I could walk or ride bike but I have to pick up the mail and drop off two children to school and then pick them up after work at daycare. It's very easy to get to work here - even when I lived in the country 15 miles away, you can still make it to work in 15 to 20 minutes.

My fiance in the UK has a totally different schedule. It takes him nearly 1 1/2 hours to get to work. And the way they drive over there, or should I say, the way he drives over there - scares the ####### out of me. No way could I commute in the UK. I'll take my rural laid back life anytime.

There is also no public transportation here. :)

The quiet life is great! :hehe:

I live in Greencastle and work on the northwest side of Indy. 60 miles / 75 minutes each way. Greencastle is "out in the sticks" (9900 or so). There are essentially no jobs in my town that aren't factory-related. Larry doesn't do factories any longer. I.T. jobs have dried up in Indy, so I can't do that, either. I'm working at one of my old jobs now.... mechanic/salesperson for a bicycle shop. It's low-stress, and it pays more than working in a factory close to home (and more than 125% of poverty level. LOL!). I miss seeing Mags, though. Don't really see her on Wed, Thurs, or Fri. Saturday we have a little time together, and Sunday we usually have a nice bike ride before I go to work (noon). Monday and Tuesday I'm off. Best part of being off is not driving 120 miles per day. lol

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

When I have my freelance hat on it's a 20 second walk to the office, but it does mean I have to get up early to have phone meetings at 9am BST (4am EST). When I have my self-employed hat on it's a 15 minute bike ride, or a 25 minute ski walk depending on the season. :P

Car, less than 15 minutes, suburb.

If I elected to take public transportation to work, I'd have to walk about 10 minutes to a bus stop, take a 10 minute bus ride to another bus stop and switch to another bus which would take me to work in about 30 minutes. 50 minutes travel time, not including time spent waiting for the bus.

My wife drives 30 minutes to work with no options of public transport available at all.

I live in a pretty small city and commute about 45 min to an hour to work in another city and drop my daughter off to school in a third city. They are all officially, legally cities, but they are probably the size of a township, not really a city like NYC. Now, I lived in NYC and commuted by train an hour from Queens to Brooklyn to work. So maybe I'm more willing to commute than others here where I live now, who make their life fit in the town more than I do.
