Hello, I'd like to find the best way to bring my cousin into the United States. She's just finished her graduate degree in Math in India. I understand that she needs to be accepted to an accredited University (probably to repeat her graduate program) before she can get a student visa. However, how does she select a college if she's never been to the USA?

My hope was that we could get her a visitor's visa so she could visit the various campuses. Now I understand that it is nearly impossible for a young (24), marriageable lady from India to get a visitor's visa. Her entire family (parents and brothers) still lives in India. I am able to financially support my cousin, as are her parents. I am a US citizen (since 1994) and have never sponsored/supported a relative before.

What are the steps I need to take to bring my cousin into the US?

You know the answer to this already. She either needs to choose, apply to, and be accepted to a university or she needs to apply for a visitors visa. Send her an invitation letter, original I-134 affidavit of support, a hundred bucks for the fee, and have her apply for tourist visa at the embassy.

OH, she probably does need to have a job and about $50,000 in cash in her account or assets in India to show ties to her home country. The attempt only costs a hundred bucks tho. Good luck.
