Congrats on the no smoking Lisa

I wish I could give up... I do need to... I have said that when I move to the States, I will give it a shot. Chris is going to quit with me which will make it easier.

I enjoy it though :( And before I give up I need to want to do it 100% It's still only at about 80% at the moment... That sounds silly, huh

Tash...I (L) smoking, lol. And I really enjoyed it too. I dunno what REALLY made this time stick so much, since I've been using the same excuses forever. But this time was different for me.

The only probbo I see with you quitting whilst here is that the tabs are so cheap in comparison! I have this smoking counter that says the days, mins, etc that I quit...the amt of tabs I haven't smoked, and the money I saved.

D's like 'you only saved $35?'

I forget what it was like when I lived there and we both smoked a pack a day :lol:

Good point.... I can't believe how cheap they are in some places over there! In Maryland, they are actually quite expensive in comparison to somewhere like North Carolina and Virginia.... I think when we were in NC I got a carton for $26 which is like £13! Here it's like £45 for a carton! :o And in Maryland it's about $45 - $50 for a carton. We will stay living there then..

Thank you!

I normally wouldn't chunter on so much about how proud I am of myself  but THIS just feels so HUGE to me. And I really feel like I quit for good this time! It was nowhere near as difficult as all the other quit attempts were. Seriously, nowhere near as hard.

I guess I was ready. But man, to have that fricken monkey off my back feels so good. Specially when I'm in the car and I don't have to put the window down....uck I hated that shiznit.

Believe me, I know what you're talking about. I've been where you are today a little over 2 years ago. All I can tell you is that while the perceived desire to light up doesn't really go away - at least not within 2-3 years - it does get easier to handle over time. You're through the roughest part. Don't give up now.

Oh, and one more piece of advise: There's no such thing as "just one". If you let that happen, it starts all over. I've done that sufficiently over the course of 15-20 years to make that statement. Always remind yourself what effort you already have invested in the quitting when it gets rough. Worked and still works for me.

Thanks so much!

Yeah, I know thru all my past attempts to quit...that just 1 means 'I'm a smoker again.' I quit once for 11 mos then had a cigar at a party & that was all she wrote, and once I quit for 3 mos and used a fight as an excuse to light up 'just for the day' and that didn't work either.

Of course, various other times as well with equally jacked up justifications. And the funny thing is, after being quit for a while, that 1st ciggie....hell, that first pack....tastes like sh!t, makes me dizzy, smells awful, etc. I knew it yet I still 'powered thru' lolz.

This time, I know I'm quit for good. I can't explain it, but I feel it in my water  All the other times I quit, I always knew that I'd go back. Kinda like when I got married for the first time...the organist didn't show up, so I walked down the aisle in silence. At the reception, my mom was upset about it and without thinking, I said 'don't worry Mom, I'll have it at my next wedding.'

 I know I digressed, but there was a relevant parallel there I think
