My wife got her interview date. I will be attending the interview with her, just a few questions:

- Would they allow me into the embassy to be with her during the interview?

- I have read in the past postings that JFK is a POE to go through, is there any reason for this? My wife will be joining me back so I wanted to know which is better?

- Any recommendations on how to prepare for the final step?

Thanks,

Raj

AFAIK some embassies do allow USC to join the interview candidate. Personally I suggest you attend only if you see a reason.

I had read somewhere earlier that a K-1 couple that went for an interview together, they intreviewed both of them separately and confirmed the answers. However yours is a K-3 case and should not be a problem even if both of you are allowed to the interview.

Regarding the Interview prep:

=====================

Make sure you carry ALL the documents being asked for in a properly organized file. Sumit as many as possible with the VFS office itself.

Even VFS DOES NOT allow you to carry the mobile-phones and bags into their office. You can accompany your wife though. You will be allowed.

The embassy will NOT allow you to carry the mobile phones or bags inside the office, your wife cannot even carry her purse. she has to carry her documents in a plastic bag, a clear palstic bag if possible.

Proper photos, better you get the passport size photos at the USEmbassy recommended studio itself. Lot of people are being asked to get one at the last minute.

Get the DD from a foreign bank like HSBC or Citi Bank. I know they prefer HSBC.

JFK POE:

======

For K-1 holders, it is preferred since JFK POE gives the EAD stamping on the passport.

Since your wife is coming here on a K-3 does she need an EAD to work in the US. If yes, then I think you can you can do that too. Please post this particular question on the K-3 discussion forum, I'm sure someone will give you a good reason regarding JFK-POE.

While at JFK just ask an officer if you and your wife can stand in the same line and then both of you stand in the Citizens line.

If you have anything specific, please ask.

Good luck ! I'm sure you'll be fine.

As a U.S. citizen they can not deny you entry to the embassy but they may or may not have you there for the interview.
