Guys, don't turn this into another "Bash VJ" thread, okay? ;) We know how you feel, it's been said enough times. This was a simple thread asking where Meauxna has gotten to, that's all.

Thanks.

 .... i agree also..with sister mags on this....................

Dev - if the eagle crosses the rabbit's shadow at noon, then the squirrel will sit up and listen. ;)

excellent saying

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I do know for a fact that some of the old members here have started anew with new accounts as they don't wish to be associated with their old names. As to the others; people just leave for a variety of reasons. It could be because they have a busy RL, maybe they get annoyed with forums, have a falling out etc etc

The oldies leave but they do get replaced, the shoes get filled as more of the "newer" members learn more about the visa process and go through it themselves. Today's newbie is tomorrow's knowledgeable oldie.

And somehow that is not against TOS - creating a new account to hide behind? WHOA.

Newbies of today have a giant gap in their learning experience if the knowledgable oldies are gone.

I thought Meauxna was posting under a different name.....maybe I'm wrong.

Their posts live on.

But whether some knowledgeable oldies had departed this earth -- or departed this site -- there would still be other knowledgeable members remaining and new ones joining. Life is change and life is growth.

Are you suggesting that we ban the very same members of whom you are sad about leaving in the first place? :o

Newbies of today have a giant gap in their learning experience if the knowledgable oldies are gone.

But there ARE enough members here to help fill in the gaps. And as they pass on their knowledge the newer members will increase theirs.

I also want to say that by constantly saying there are no knowledgeable members here any more is a HUGE insult to the people who are here and DO help out. A HUGE insult.

I see many people, every day, give out good advice and help others through this long winded journey. Long may they continue!

Actually the reason I mentioned that this thread will be locked if it turns into a "Bash VJ" thread is because we have seen it so many times. It starts at every available opportunity and can get a little tiring, imo.

That's all.

VJ is what it is. Take it or leave it. *shrugs*

Nothing personal, but why does a statement like this bring chills up my spine and images of Mao to mind? Really, IF VJ were a business, and I firmly believe that it is, and have no reason to believe that it isn't, adopting a nonchalant, 'take it or leave it' mentality, would very definitely be the first step in a downward spiral to its demise.

Why is it that constructive criticism cannot be tolerated? And most especially from the ranks without whom there would be no fora, or at least there would be no content or purpose for such fora. What's so different about VJ that it doesn't parallel any business, or club, whose prime purpose is to serve its patrons and or membership? I don't get it!!

And Mags, this is not directed at you, personally, but rather at the machine, for which you are serving a role. Why doesn't the machine speak and address these relentless questions itself, rather than to place others in the trenches to try to avert discussions or discontent of the members. So where is the "owner" of this site, and why does his absence from addressing these concerns and questions appear to me to be arrogance personified!?!!!

But it isn't a business. It's a user-defined web-based forum for sharing of information. There's no getting around the fact that it's only as good as the quality of the membership since for legal reasons it can't be people paid or held up as giving advice. And that people are going to move on as life moves them or as they lose interest in answering questions.

And while I'm sure everyone has many useful suggestions, most of what I see lately is not constructive suggestions, but complaints about the quality of the newer membership. That's all well and good, but I'm not sure what specific things people would like to see the admins do to retain those members.

Mao=Mags. Shame I have to wait 10 months for another name change. :(

Seriously though, DM, to be honest I know I've certainly had enough of the bashing and it is from the same few people every time. THAT"S why I said what I did.

Oh and ditto what Caladan said.

Ya know Mags, I really have to agree with you. While I do think its sad that we've lost some veterans, there are still people around who do have good information that share it readily. And there are also newer members who take the time to learn about the process and are careful to share accurate knowledge.

And as for veterans of VJ adopting a new moniker to be able to continue their good work, it doesn't bother me in the least. I think some of them need the protection a new ID offers.
