I think much time and effort was made to bring very pertinent issues to the forefront of VJ. Unfortunately, after too much time goes by with very little to no action being done, members have almost zero choice but to make the inevitable decision but to move on to greener pastures.

The misinformation, hostility and least to mention, the management style of VJ has led and will continue to lead to its demise over a period of time. Members will come along to make the plight that "This is VJ, I have been here for years, people come and go." While this is true to an extent, the decline started years ago (circa 2004-2005) and will continue to do so despite the denial of such. It is a fun place for jokes, polls, baby updates, wedding pictures and the like, but it has also become a place that no longer promotes accurate immigration information the majority of the time.

There are many other valuable members (besides the aforementioned) "missing" that no longer wish to participate in such a site and have moved on to other immigration sites where their topnotch information and experiences are appreciated.

True. And it's a shame.

Respect is non-existent here.

I disagree. What I'd say is that some members are respectful and some are not. You can't lump it all together. I know of many respectful people here. If there were none, I would not be here.

Could it also be that much of the needed information that people come here seeking regarding their immigration process has been archived, making it somewhat obsolete to answer most of the rudimentary questions that are the bulk of all questions asked?

No. A simple search uncovers many (relevant) threads. Or the guides. Or a read of pinned threads.

That makes sense, especially when I think of the amount of time Yodrak helped countless people over countless issues. He/She would have left a long time ago it were from burnout. :(

Exactly. And if admin won't make the site so respect IS given & received on VJ, then what is the point? Chaos?

:ot2:

Several have left partly because of that reason.

Dogwood_Poet,

So put her signature on the back of the check and deposit it in a free-standing ATM (one that's in the bank parking lot, not in the bank building). The free-standing ATMs are generally serviced by contract companies, not by the bank itself. The bank and your branch of the bank will never see the check, only the record of the deposit transaction.

Related, I changed my checking and savings accounts at one of my banks to joint accounts while my wife was still in her country while we were waiting for my petition to be approved. The bank gave me a signature card, I scanned and e-mailed it to my wife, she printed and signed it, and mailed it back along with photocopies of several of her items of photo ID. This gave them signed photo ID for their file with signatures matching her original signature on the signature card.

Yes, I miss meauxna's posts too ... and the others who give very good and clear responses to questions.

But I have seen other VJers step forward and take on the task of sharing info to other members. Kudos to them. May this cycle continue! People come and go .. but the knowledge shall stay and will continue to be passed on.

Mister Fancypants,

Indeed, what you are saying holds great truth. This site is so poorly managed that the most rudimentary questions should be as obvious to new posters as the noses on their face. Unfortunately, what we have here is people relaying what they 'think' is the correct answer or what worked for them' during their immigration process regardless of the various circumstances for each couple.

The 'much needed information' that you speak of should never have been archived. It should have been pinned and should have been always immediately available for members to link back to. This is what should have happened and this is what should have been the main concern of the admin and moderators of this site. Keeping the information factual, up to date and easy to reference. Inaccurate information has been allowed to run rampant among the members of VJ without concern for the welfare of the member they are actually attempting to assist.

This site does not promote self help in their immigration journey. It spoon feeds members the wrong information which could be detrimental to someone that comes along and doesn't post but merely reads the info and runs.

I realize that I am spinning my wheels in a rut that is far too deep to even crawl out of at the moment, but I think it's a shame that the truth can't be talked about without it being labeled a 'bash VJ thread' with the threat of lock.

There is an absolute truth why we are missing meauxna and the other who have left, there is also an absolute truth why she and the others are not here.

Could it also be that much of the needed information that people come here seeking regarding their immigration process has been archived, making it somewhat obsolete to answer most of the rudimentary questions that are the bulk of all questions asked?

Read my comment above, please, everyone. If this thread continues to turn into a bash VJ thread I will lock it.

Actually the reason I mentioned that this thread will be locked if it turns into a "Bash VJ" thread is because we have seen it so many times. It starts at every available opportunity and can get a little tiring, imo.

That's all.

VJ is what it is. Take it or leave it. *shrugs*
