I'm not from the MENA group, but this is my second time. Same fiancée though! We had to cancel her first K-1 at the embassy interview stage, over two years ago, for personal reasons. So, here we both sit waiting and waiting again! :(

The visa journey waiting and immigration process was extremely stressful to say the least (gained more grey hair than I wish to count). I don't think I would want to go through this process again, and I'm hoping that our marriage will last a lifetime inshallah. I'm 59 and my husband 54 so because of our level of seniority and being in second marriages, I'm hoping for the best......

Do you mean who have applied for the same person twice or who applied for one person and that didn't work out so they applied for a second different person?

Different man...

:pop:

Don't we have some MENA members on the second petition now?

At first, I said 'HELL TO THE NO" ,,,but one thing I have learned in life is, to never say never.

Jackie (F)

yup.. big lesson in life for me.. Never say never......

yep yep, never ever EVER say never. Nobody knows what God has in store....

For myself though, I would love to say that I'd never do it again but it would totally depend on the circumstances.... I don't think I'd allow myself to go meet some dude in a foreign country again ..BUT if the foreign dude were in the USA and I could meet him here, get to know him HERE....Maybe I would consider it...

(F) amal (F)

edited to add: lol hubster and I had a discussion about the meaning of the word dude in Arabic. No, I did not mean to call any foreigner a "#######" or anything that has to do with "nose yuckies" hehehehe

I would also like to say never, but again ;) Never say Never

I also didn't meet my SO online or in the US, met him in France while living there so I guess I can safely assume I wouldn't do that again :) but if God forbid anything happened with this relationship I would only be up for relationships with US citizens or at least residents

Me. This is my 2nd time around.

It's a long story - however - the first time around, I picked out (somewhat in a daze, somewhat misinformed ... ) the most dispicable, ugly, stupid, moronic, ignorant, uncivilized, ... well, you get the point.

Well - this time around ... different. I don't like discussing *current* peronal things much - but I'll just say I've made a point to not even compare my wife to that other person. It's insulting to my wife - to even consider using her name in a sentence about that "person". :)

Needless to say - I was very discouraged after the fact. I didn't even consider stepping *foot* in Jordan again for a looong time.

I guess I learned a few thousand lessons c/o the first-time-around. Two things I picked up in my folly:

- What a great person is.

- What pure trash is.

So - I keep in mind the old saying: "Good things come to those who wait." I just hope we don't need to wait too long ... ... although I can tolerate it, doesn't mean it doesn't hurt.

LoL! Means something like worm or grub (and snot :P), yea? Arabic equivalent of english "dude" - maybe - would be "ya-zilim" ( Literally, "man" - as in the phrase "Hey man!"/"Sup man?"/etc )

The moral of my story: Stick with someone who matches your own culture.

( This coming from an Arab who married an Arab from overseas... go figure. )

yep ur right! he just laughed when he first got here and my son and I would be joking around saying hey dude ... now I know why  , I noticed my hubster saying "ya zilima" alllllllllllllllll the time. SO Much actually that it is a normal part of every day speech to me. My co-workers look at me funny as I use a lot of the arabic expressions when I'm frustrated lol!!!

I can't imagine starting the whole visa process all over again. I wouldn't seek it out. Especially not if AP/AR was a routine part of the process. *shudders* We didn't have AP in India and still I didn't like it. I wouldn't say I would never marry someone from another country, but I only would if they were already in the US for some reason. I wouldn't purposely look for someone from a specific country. All I know is I really hated being apart from Sujeet and feel like it's enough to have gone through that only once in life.
