doodle,

I think it's a great idea. I'll be interested to see how it turns out. Let me know how you end up making it as I might need to make one too! And I really do agree with your sentiment regarding an American style. Too often when I am shopping for work appropriate or even casual clothes all you find is beaded tunics etc. Which is fine and yea I like to wear them sometimes but really I want to find something so that I look like every other woman in America just in longer, looser proportions. What is your vision as to how you're making these? Square? Oblong? LOL sorry I'm super interested though!

Well I thought the part with the red sox logo would be the shorter of the two that I can wear underneath an oblong shayla, since I've been wearing shayla's lately. That way if I'm wearing a red turtleneck I can just wear the logo piece without the shayla too.

I'm going this weekend and I'll put pics up once I've made it. I don't know if I'll even find red sox logo fabric but if not I'll just take a jersey with it on and cut that up. Sometimes I feel like McGiver (sp?) when I'm making things like this. lol.

NOW.......I'm not the best sewer in the world, though I can do hems and I can sew buttons, etc. but I dont know how to make those wicked teensy seems that are on the edge of my shaylas. That's what has been holding me back from making any type of shayla so far. I could just do the ameera type to go over the logo piece since those look pretty simple to do.

Anyways I'll post the pics up prolly sunday when I'm done with it. :) Now if I could only get play off tickets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is about all I could find so maybe you could just sew the logo on

Whoa ... those are so grossly overpriced. I don't see why a simple lycra style wouldn't work for that : http://www.alhannah.com/products/hi1335.html

Isn't that what they make sports wear from ... and it's like what, less than 1/4 the price too. It's a shame, some people are tying to bring "designer" goods to the Islamic market & get rich from people who want to dress religiously. They slap their name on things - then charge 4-10 times what they should for the same kind of item you can get cheap. Haram alay-hom. They should be ashamed of themselves.

It's not just Islam. Have you seen the documentary film called "Salesman"? It makes you feel pity for the "designer" Bible Salesman.

apparently the Red Sox have a license on their fabric and will not sell them to fabric stores. :( They have them in fleece but that's not happenin' in a hijab. I went to five stores before I finally asked someone what the deal was. Had I asked in the first store I would have saved four more trips...

BUT I would have missed out on my flower child hijab fabric

and my tie dye hippie chic fabric!

The solid color is a jersey material and will go underneath the printed fabric. you can't tell in the pics but each printed fabric has some sparkley stuff on it that glistens in the light. :) No clue how to sew all this together and kinda scared that I may not have gotten enough fabric but we'll see what happens.
